Has anyone tried an Ipod Nano with an Axxess adapter? I have the adapter here and I can change tracks etc but I have no sound. I'm trying to figure out of it is faulty or if it just doesn't work.

Machomandan mentioned in the Axxess Skips thread that he tried a Nano with no problems.

Do you have a dock to use with your computer? If you do, there is an audio jack on the dock that you could use to verify that the Nano is working through the dock connector.

After reading your comments, are you trying to verify the Axxess unit isn't faulty?

I think my axxess unit is faulty then :(

No dock.

Thanks, I should have searched that thread first. :(

tony double check the Axxess harness. My "common audio" wire in my harness was loose and I got no sound at first. I removed the common audio pin, crimped it a bit, reinserted it and bingo! Works fine...

Thanks, I'll look at that. I'll remove all the pins and check them. Too bad I didn't have pin out to go off of.

it should be the same pinouts as the standard Radio C2. Do you want me to email you the pinout diagram for C2?

That doesn't really help me at this point I don't think. I have SI anyway so I can find it. The ideal situation would be a photo of the wire colors at the backs fo the plugs but I'll request that as a last resort.

Thanks for your help.

If it's a problem with the pins, you should see some problem with either XM or some other remote audio device, right? If everything else is working right, I'd say you have a bad unit. My ipod nano works fine.

Tony,

Quit using those Scotchlocks, and all will be fine. LOL! :)

This might be lame, but did you try reseting your Nano? Sometimes I can scroll through songs fine, but no sound comes out until I reset my Ipod by holding the "play" and center buttons.

I know I asked already (will this unit allow me to keep my XM and the in-dash CD changer?=yes).

New question, Is this unit plug and play for this set up, or do I have to do some cutting and wiring? I have seen the thread that talks about a relay and wiring, but is that necessary?

Circuit City has these in stock and the doofus there does not have a clue

thanks

You have to cut a wire and add a relay.

add a relay? I didn't add any relay. I just tapped right into 12V. Whats the relay for?

temale,

can you explain a little further? I don't want to do a relay if I don't have to. I just want to plug and play. Do you have XM and in-dash 6 disc changer? Are you able to use both still?

I am on the fence about buying, but not sure.

Thanks

if you have XM, you need the relay.

I would not pay more than $10 for the Axxess adapter. Mine this past weekend locked up on me and locked up my iPod. Even after I disconnected my ipod it still said "Ready to Disconnect" on the iPod display. I couldn't power it down or anyting. I had to wait for the battery to die and then charge back up before I could use my ipod again and right now it doesn't work in my truck. When I switch to XM it still has the last song that was playing when it locked up. I would look else where for an adapter. I think I'm gonna buy a cheap 3rd generation 20G iPod for my truck. I can get one for the same price as the USA Spec adapter.

its probably being wierd because you didnt hook up the relay!

What relay? I don't have XM. Explain to me what it does and where I can get it. Please.

I think you mentioned in another thread that Metra mentioned to you that the Axxess unit is not compatible with the new Video iPod's. Is that what you were using when it locked up? I think there is a way to perform a reset on the iPods.

The relay that is mentioned above is to toggle between the iPod input and the factory XM tuner (if you have one). Since you mention you don't have XM, then you don't need the relay. Sounds like you issue may be related to the video iPod being too new.

ahh yeah sorry Tamale, I thought you had XM...
