The truck manager at my GMC store said that the new LLY is awesome but GM is gonna bump the power a little more in the Fall. Sounds like GM is turning into Intel.

Since it took 3 years for 10 hp, I say 5 hp this time and 1 ft# more torque http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Evil Smile.gif

I am going to cancel my next 04 and wait on the 05 so I can be the first w/ the DuramaxSS http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif or it could he the Z06 HD2500 http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gifEdited by: Dmax Tim

Probably charge you another $5K for that option. With all the sales gimmicks GM is using these days, I am surprised they have not tried the "SS" or "Z06" one for an outrageous price.

GM has a tradition of releasing a revised engine at given HP level, then the next year "tuning" engine to a higher HP rating.

If you want the highest HP model, you will have to wait awhile. There is a war going on. A HP war to make the 1960's look like the Bay of Pigs. Expect a small block OEM GM motor to exceed 450HP in the next 18m, whether it will make it into truck is yet to be seen. Dodge has released a 500HP big block truck, and I'm sure that Ford will ramp up the SVT Lightning to compensate for the increased weight of the new F150 platform.

Where does GM fit in? GM tends to be a follower rather than leader. They watch what the other mfr's are doing and what sells, then they release their version which is usually a superior and more "balanced" product.

PS - The "Z06" option code is recycled. It was the racing brakes and fuel tank option for 1963 Corvette. It wasn't a model, just an option code on the build sheet.

If GM puts the Z06 code on anything other than a Vette, Zora-Arkus Duntov will rise from grave and piss on the shoes of everyone at GM HQ.
