: 06 camper mirrors installed

A friend of mine found me a set of 06 camper mirrors yesterday and I installed them last night.

I think this is the best mod I have done so far. Visibility is great!! Losing the power extending feature of the 05 mirrors was no big deal for me.

It only took me about about 20 minutes a door to install (I'm slow). Very easy to do...

Yep, it's like night and day between the useless old mirrors and the '06 camper mirrors. No more frigging blind spot!

The 05 camper mirrors are basically useless. I'll be upgrading to the 06 mirrors soon.

It took me a while to get the blindspot mirror adjusted, but now they are great.:ro)

Lol, the "Ross Perot Club"

I can't wait to tow a trailer with mine, but they are even great for daily driving!

Maxed,

What do you plan to do with the '05 mirrors you removed?

I am assuming you have to buy the mirrors from the dealer. Does anyone know how much they are going for?

Go to www.gmpartsdirect.com (http://www.gmpartsdirect.com) and enter the mirror part numbers. $159.76 each, 15 minutes or so per side for install. Power adjustment, heated and turn all work. The memory function doesn't work right.

Great mirrors

if you are changing the handles, do at same time, as it is 80% same work

Not a direct plug in for an '02, but can be wired in, just takes a little longer.

Excuse my ignorance as ive got no seat time w/these new mirrors, and havent really followed any of the threads. I looked at a truck at a dealer today w/the tow mirrors, and it didnt seem like they went out any further than my power ones. Where is the benefit comin from. More glass area? And whats to gain by it being tilted up instead of flat like fords? Thanks

The '05 power extending are too flat and narrow without a blindspot mirror, highly difficult to see when towing. The '06 has a wide visability with a big blind spot mirror.

I ordered 2 mirrors, 5 piece painted handle set(escalade type) and some painted covers for the wife's Tahoe mirrors, $50.05 handling charge + $20.25 Freight. Still a deal IMO

I keep reading folks refer to a blind spot when they use the new 06 trailer mirriors. Where is the blind spot? And while I am asking, which part of the mirror is power. The uppear or lower?

No blind spot on the 06 electric camper mirrors. The 05 power extending mirrors have a blind spot you can put a whole car in.

The 06 manual trailer mirrors are not better than the O5's

I haven't found the blind spot yet, But haven't towed my 5er either since installing them. The power mirror is the top one.

I have no blind spot with my '06 camper mirrors. Well, maybe for the odd mini-bike or razor-scooter, but I figure if they have enough balls to be out on a freeway doing 60+ mph, they aren't worried about 18,000 pounds of metal and fiberglass changing lanes on them. :)

I'm thinking the blind spot is what's hidden by the mirror as you are looking forward or making a turn rather than what you see, or don't see in the mirror itself. Wow, that reads about as clear as mud. Maybe I should say I think the blind spot is what is hidden behind the large mirror as you look forward or to the side and not a problem of the viewing area of the mirror. Was that any better?

Blind Spot is anything you cant see in mirror that you should be able to see in an ideal situation.

I have not noticed that these mirrors obstruct my view forward or to the side.

In fact they are better than some big rig mirrors I have used.:D
