All this chat about block numbers got me interested into looking at mine.
10237141
That's all. No F code or 509 or anything else.
I am positive that the engine had been replaced before I got the truck.
Can anyone tell me anything about this?
Thanks

Yep, '141 is usually found in only '96 model trucks, but could have been a replacement engine in your truck. For sure your truck has a replacement engine though, stock '93 is a 599.
'141 is a good block though, and IMO is the SAME as a 599, or 929 ('95 model).
You won't find the "F" anywhere on the engine, the F is just a code found in your VIN that tells you light or heavy duty.
The only thing I can offer besides it's origin is that you Don't have the piston oil spray coolers in the block (that can be a source for cracking).
Keep rattlin' on!

The 141 is a decent block used in very late 95's almost 96's and 97 models produced in 96 normally had a 141 block. The only real change in the 141 block was that they moved the OPS from the left rear of the block to the intake valley. They normally showed a lower oil pressure on the guage at idle since the oil pressure reading was being taken off of a lifter galley instead of the main supply feed. It did not have oil spray pistons in it like stated earlier either. It is still a preffered block amongst GM blocks. And it used the 1/2" oil lines like all the earlier blocks did. Most likely somebody overheated the origanal engine and cracked a cylinder so a warranty replacement was most likely installed.
