WELCOME vmax4911, this is a great site and full of info;) , congrads on the truck, look in some of the other threads and you might find something on your truck, you can also do a VIN# check, just start a new thread titled "VIN checK" and you might get some help. I've never tried this, but I see it alot on here and they get some great info on that truck. Best of luck and again welcome!:welcome2:

vmax4911, be sure and listen to him, do a vin check. I did this with my 03 2500hd AFTER i bought it and only then seen it had 2 clutch/flywheel kits in one year. i would have gotton allison if i known this. - also to see if it had any injector problems

First off :welcome: :welcome2:
I would run the vin# to check for any major issues. I wouldnt worry too much, if anything it may have had an injector issue. But all LB7 (01- early 04) trucks have a 200,000 mile warranty on injectors. You should expect 250 - 300,000 out of the motor no sweat.I know there was a thread in here one was runnin strong 350,000+ miles!:grd:

Cool sounds like you are getting the same truck I have... Is it silver?
It will be a great truck, I have not had any issues with mine, exept the injectors, ask the previous owner if they have been replaced yet.

hey thanks for the quick replys, the truck is a light pewter color.
i will get the vin numbers up after i get home from work.
okay i have another question, what kind of oil do you guys use when you change the oil?
i was doing some reading and i heard alot of good about amsoil and their filters are they good to use?
if not can you tell what is good to use?
also this is my first diesel, how many quarts does this truck take?
how about changing the fuel filter what is a good filter for the fuel?
as i will be doing my first oil change saturday and a good hand waxing too.
thanks in advance ,jeff:grd:

Welcome to the site and congrats on the new truck!! You'll love it. If I were you I would change all fluids just to make a clean start. Engine oil plus filter, fuel filter, transmission plus filter if you have the Allison, front and rear diffs, transfer case and engine coolant and lube all 11 points. All easy stuff to do yourself and it's good for peace of mind! Enjoy your new ride.
Cheers,

Hi and Welcome,
I know how you fell I couldn't wait either. I use Delo 15w40 and Wix filter's.
I have an LLY and it takes 3 gallons of oil. Enjoy your new Baby Girl.

Congrads on the truck, you will love it. 10quarts of oil for oil change with filter. I run Rotella syn and change every 7500 to 8000 miles. 48000 miles and not one problem, I'm knocking on wood right now lol.

:ro) :ro) :ro)

she is finally home.this truck is so awesome, all i can say is no more gassers for me,never again.
i love the way the alli shifts it is such a positive shift.my last vehicle was `92 suburban 4+4 with a 700r tranny.that 700 shifted like crap compared to the positive shift of the allison.
i`ll post a few pictures later on when it gets lighter out.
it has had the update on the new injectors back in mid /05
thanks guys for all the answers to my questions and i`l be back for a few more.
thanks,jeff
