I have a Predator installed with the 40hp tune. It has the stock tuning stored in the tuner (of course).
If I mess with the tuning using EFILive, and don't like the way it acts, can I just reflash it with the 40hp or stock tune, to start over, or if for any reason, I don't want to flash it back with EFILive...
In other words, can I use the Predtor as an alternative backup device for the stock tune?
I have not tried to reload a tune after changing it w/ EFI, but I have returned truck to stock after tuning w/ EFI. It worked great. I always keep my Predator loaded, that way going back to stock is always an option even if I don't have my laptop in my truck(but my Predator always is).

I don't see why you couldn't, but EFI Live can store your stock tune also and is what I would suggest for saving/storing the OE programming.

I do plan to use EFI for the main storage repository of tunes, including stock.
I just wondered if I can use the predator also as a backup to the data and as a backup flash device, in case the flashscan dies, or whatever.
Plus I can take it with me, in case I'm on the road, and want to flash back, for whatever reason. (like a trip to the dealer).

You actually save your stock tune as a file so you can back it up to CD or whatever you like. Even if your cable dies you can still buy a new cable and restore your tune. Your cable does not hold the tune. As far as I can see there is no advantage to holding on to your Predator.

It is very easy to transport the Predator. It is handy for clearing codes on the fly. I do not take my laptop everywhere I go. It gets cold here and I would rather leave the Predator in my truck than my laptop. Same thing goes for summer (too hot). If I ever need to go back to stock in an instant, my handy Predator is always right there to do it. :D

I recommend buying a $12 memory stick (128 MB) and store the stock tune, as well as any other tunes you build (That you really like) And stort that stick in a very safe place. Then when (Not if, but when. As we all know Windows WILL crash an burn) you have lost the copy on the computer, you will have the backup! Those sticks will hold all the tunes you will most likely ever make. (For you NUTZ, you can get 2 memory sticks! (One 128, and one 256. You will have less then $40 in the two!) This is much safer then a floppy or CD as backup!
Floppies don't come with most laptops, and CD`s get damaged pretty easily. (Even though it is claimed that they are so great!)
