: Not certain of the terminology
Dogface1SG 01-03-2006, 12:54 PM I am very interested in a EFILive setup.
I am still under warantee so am concerned about retaining factory settings.
Do I understand things right that it is flashing the memory and once it is turned off and disconnected the truck reverts to factory.
The residual things will still show?
Wolford 01-03-2006, 01:57 PM No, The flash stays. Make a copy of your stock PCM and save it, that way you will always have it if you need to go to the dealer. It takes less than three minutes to program it back to stock.
Biodiesel66 01-03-2006, 02:08 PM The tune is flashed into the memory untill you flash back the stock one.
With EFIlive you can read the memory and save the stock tune file to be flashed back at a later date. Create a tune from your saved tune file, rename the tune file and reflash the memory with you new POEWR tune.
I just revieved EFIlive last Fri. The first thing I changed was tire size.
Now I'm waiting for Trippin to write a starter tune to learn from and go from there!
This tool is awsome. A must have:ro)
Dogface1SG 01-03-2006, 02:59 PM Ok, thanks.
Once I get my truck back I will be purchasing one.
Wasted Income 01-03-2006, 03:53 PM Dogface, no dice for you with the EFI Live. It only works on 01-05 Duramax engines. It will not work on the 06 LLY or LBZ.
Dogface1SG 01-03-2006, 05:11 PM I thought it was
Max Power 01-03-2006, 05:13 PM No it is not available for the 06 LLY's, only 04 and 05 LLY's.
Dogface1SG 01-03-2006, 05:15 PM Bummer
Max Power 01-03-2006, 05:21 PM Agreed :(
hdmax 01-03-2006, 06:11 PM Doesn't the 06 LLY use the same computer as the LBZ? I understand that is why none of the 06`s will be supported.
Max Power 01-03-2006, 06:25 PM To the best of my knowledge that is correct.
Rattlewagon 01-03-2006, 06:46 PM I thought the 06 LLY with a manual trans like dogs still had the same computer as the 04.5-05, and only the 06 D/A got the new stuff?
hmmmm
dan
Max Power 01-03-2006, 06:51 PM That I don't know.
Flashscan 01-03-2006, 07:08 PM I thought the 06 LLY with a manual trans like dogs still had the same computer as the 04.5-05, and only the 06 D/A got the new stuff?

Quick way to check is to go to the GM CalID site -
http://tis2web.service.gm.com/tis2web
Type in your VIN, select PCM and if the numbers for the Main Operating System look like this then it's the LBZ style ECM.
12603049
12603624
12604138
If you get Operating Systems part numbers like -
15228758
15193885
15231600
Then it's LLY based.
Cheers,
Ross

so none match yours but they are 126***** series so I would assume a LBZ
Max Power 01-03-2006, 08:15 PM Too bad :(
Trippin 01-03-2006, 08:42 PM I just revieved EFIlive last Fri. The first thing I changed was tire size.

Ooops, looks like I have some work to do.
Dogface1SG 01-03-2006, 09:59 PM well shoot, GM should have just put the other stuff on too. Then it would be a LBZ
Flashscan 01-04-2006, 07:18 AM so none match yours but they are 126***** series so I would assume a LBZ
Yeah, it looks like it's the Bosch LBZ ECM, oh well, I guess soon enough some ECM performance option will start to appear for you.
Cheers,
Ross
Dogface1SG 01-04-2006, 01:23 PM When I thought it was out for the LBZ/LLY it was just my lysdexicia kicking in.
Hopefully not too long to the LBZ though.

If you are refering to the EFIlive coming soon for the 06`s! That ain't going to happen any time soon, and PRABABLY not ever!
Dogface1SG 01-05-2006, 11:26 AM you're a real optomist aren't ya:lol:
What makes you say not ever. Since it was just a short release of LLY?
If they come out for the LBZ it also comes out for the 06 LLY they are using same computer

Because that is the word from Flashscan themself. (That is why I am pretty sure of my comments!):)
Dogface1SG 01-05-2006, 11:50 PM do they have this posted somewhere or via email?
I can't believe with all the excitement over the LB7/LLY that they would call it quits there.
Wolford 01-06-2006, 12:02 AM Bosch ECMs are different than Delphi, which was used on the 01-05 trucks. 06 and up is Bosch.
Trippin 01-06-2006, 12:26 AM do they have this posted somewhere or via email?

Sorry about the expectation this would carry over into LBZ.
Think of it this way, the Delphi ECM's are written in English (not true really), the Bosch ECM is written in German, I don't know German and it takes a long time to learn it from scratch.
Cheers,
Ross
Dogface1SG 01-06-2006, 01:55 PM :( Bummer I don't get to try this and see what it could do
They are still using OBDII language it should be able to be done.

So find a german engineer and hire him to assist you.
