Hey was just wondering if anyone has done this and if there would be any reason not ot do it. Thanking about purchasing a female 12volt plug and putting it behind the dash to allow the radio to come on and off with the ingnition switch. Also didn't really want to mangle the original plug if I needed it later.

I did the same thing. I wired it to the circuit that stays on until the doors open. That way it is on or off with the stock radio.

I did the same thing. I wired it to the circuit that stays on until the doors (http://www.serverlogic3.com/lm/rtl3.asp?si=22&k=the%20doors) open. That way it is on or off with the stock radio.

Where is that circuit located? What color is the wire? and how easy is it to access that circuit?

I am getting tired of plugging and un-plugging every time I get in and out of my rig.

Thanks

Yikes, after reading the wiring diagrams for hours I concluded that this circuit does not exist starting with MY2003. Where is it?

I knew you'd ask. I did this over a year ago. When they installed my DVD player they tapped into a 12 ga red wire??? It was heavy and I'm guessing on the guage and color. It is under the steering column. I looked but couldn't see far enough. You need to drop the lower dash panel under the column and the sheetmetal shield, 4 nuts on studs. If I remember right it's right there. Mine's an 03 so I know it works.

Sorry but I don't have the time to drop panels to verify. If you can't find it PM me. I might be able to drop the panel this weekend.
