Just went down to pick up my 2004 Chevy Duramax 3500 - traded in my 2003 duramax 2500. The new Chevy has the LLY versus the LB7 engine I had in my old truck. The new one only has 12 miles on it - look forward to getting it home it later this week (the dealer is putting on a LIN-X bedliner, and a Turnover Ball hitch first). One thing I did notice was that the new truck is louder at idle, with more diesel chatter than my 2003. Runs fine, but louder. Any of you folks with some shop time on both engines notice this phenomenon? Is it a result of the redesigned injector system?

No but maybe it needs to get broken in first. Can you tell a difference in power. Just curious. todd

Still waiting for the dealership to finish mods before I take it home. Just did a short drive to check it out the other day. While the redesigned injector system is a plus, I sorta' wonder if the modest gain in hp/torque will be something that will really be noticed. We'll see - I'll send you a message after I've driven it more than a couple of miles.
