What in the tranny would limit the engine power in the foreward gears & not in reverse ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You are under powered in the forward gears? Reverse feels more powerful because it is lower.

He's had issues already though with low power.

Have you had a reflash lately, besides the one PPE gave you? TCM updated?

Sounds like SEM is active in the forward ranges. Also could be Low range torque protection. I'm not sure if the ECM sends the signal to the trans that it's in 4lo or not. LRTP really cuts fuel back on the dmax's.

I talked to him yesterday and he did not have the problem before the trans build. Maybe a converter problem? He has the PPE trans kit installed. I don;t know what they have or who makes their kits,

Do you guys think I might need lift pumps? It only black smokes when I first put the power to it and then the smoke tapers off and it loses power. Also it runs the same at 1/2 throttle as it does wide open. It doesn't matter what setting the programmer is on it always takes off good for a second and just tapers off.

ever change the fuel filter?... i wouldtry that first no matter what/or when it was last done

elmeano, read my first response to you in the other thread man.. New filters and a lift pump.

I'd say you found your own problem.

I will have lift pumps and an inline CAT filter on within a week I will let everyone know how that goes. Thanks for all of the responses.

I ended up tracing the problem down to the cp3. After I installed it the truck ran like a raped ape until the turbo exploded. Damn ppe boost valve must of had the boost up around 40 or something. I am investing in gauges immediately!!! And also I need a turbo if anyone knows where to find one. Thanks for all of the ideas everyone.
