I've seen on here that the stock air filter provides more than enough air for the duramax but am wondering how it does at filtering out dirt. Is it worth it to go to a different filter such as K & N ?

I have heard some very bad comments with K&N. One member said in a post that he found small gravel past his filter after going down a dirt/gravel road for about 30 miles. I sure more people will offer more info on this (i only run stock air filter in my d-max)

Ok guys...once again,

SPICER had a study done on many different makes of filters by a respected, independant test firm.

His results are in this thread, starting at post #99 or thereabouts:

Overall, the stock ACDelco was found to be the best overall.

K&N let in a lot of crap. Thats why K&N is inviting SPICER to come talk to them at their corporate HQ...they didn't like the results of that independant test. Read into that what you will....
