I already posted this to the LLY electronics section, but I realized mine is a 2006 LLY which is the same as the LBZ. I want to run empty on a trip of about 500 miles in level 1 tow/economy mode. I still don't have my gages installed. My question is will this be ok? Those of you with gages, will the EGT's be ok? Thanks in advance.:D

You'll be fine if you aren't towing.

I just got back from a 2000 mile trip towing 5000lb trailer. With the power pup in the tow mode cruising on flat temps were about 800-1000 on a good hill i can get it over 1300. You will be fine unloaded mine on a hill pedel to the metal will stay at 1250 or so.

By the way, I forgot to mention in the original post, I still have a stock exhaust system.

It still wouldn't concern me.

I'm stock also, except for the Predator "tow tune". No guages or exhaust yet. Do you think mine will be OK too? How about towing a 3,000 lb boat? Do you recommend a boost stick? If so, will the boost stick lower EGT's and improve mileage?

First mod should ALWAYS be gauges. Know where you are at stock, then modify for more power. It makes diagnosing any issues difficult if you do not know your 'brnd new' starting point
Just one man's opinion.

Personally, I wouldn't tow over 5k on anything but flat ground STOCK without at least a pyro. It's just too easy to get her too high and then without thinking, shut down at a rest area before it's cooled adequately.

For those not into gauges, what's the minimum gauges needed for safety for level 1 and 2 with most programmers. I'm thinking of Edge or Banks.

The MINIMUM is a pyrometer.
Boost gauge can be optional but it can help trace low power problems, dirty air filter, how much fuel you are using etc.
My .02 is Boost and Pyrometer.
300.00 in gauges and pod to monitor a 10,000.00 engine is CHEAP INSURANCE!

Thanx Juice! I take it pyrometer is a safety issue. You evidently think it is necessary even for level 1 and 2 with no towing.

I worry about these things. Stock turbo, level 2... if you wound it right out to top speed, you would be suprised:eek:
