I have a 1995 K2500 (with 6 lug axles -:t ) and pretty much stock everything. I bought the truck with 220,00 miles on it. My pocket book is rather limited but i want to put some power into this 6.5L because all my friends at school thinks she's a pooch...They need to be proven wrong. I'm thinking of a Cold Air Induction from SS Diesel Supply and their 4" exhaust system for starters. Good idea or no?

I also have a slight knock and rattle in the engine but its not serious, (rods knocking or major mechanical failure) and i have heard that it can possibly be injectors (mine have 239,000 on them i believe). My local diesel shop can rebuild the injectors for $52 a piece which is terrible in my opinion...$416 for stock injectors. I was thinking of going to SS Diesel Supply for their 40 horse injectors for only $500. Sounds like a good deal to me, has anyone ever dealt with these injectors and know if they have any bugs or anything?

Thanks for any input that you guys have.

Hey there and welcome!

Looks like your unit is similar to mine. Take a couple of moments to fill in your signature with details on your ride so we can make better recommendations.

Opening up the exhaust is always a good place to start. 3.5" is probably all that you need but 4" is fine. It boosts mileage a bit, lowers EGT's, and gives a nice tune as well. As for the intake, I think that the general idea was that the stock setup in many cases is still pretty good. I am guessing that you have the "s" type engine. In that case, just go on over to Kennedy's site (http://www.kennedydiesel.com/) and go to tech tips at the top. He has some nice air intake modifications.

As for injectors, not to sure. Haven't been in the market yet (still original and still working). Someone will chime in on that i'm sure.

Exhaust good idea, cold air, maybe, still gathering consensus on that as all cold air systems to date suck in underhood air which can be 200+F so more air flow from better filter, but may elevate temps with higher temp intake air, free mod at Kennedy's site as mentioned above better bang for buck IMO. Check out FAQ link in my sig line which will take you to the more performance thread there.

I'd spend money on a chip before injectors, if you suspect those; then have them cleaned/tested for about $8 each, some shops will apply testing of old toward purchase of a new set or rebuilt set, until you chip, injectors wil net negligble gain if any, and would be the last thing amonst many others that you will need, IE remote mount FSD.

Get the injectors and a "Chip" from Kennedydiesel.com. Remove the muffler and soot trap, it will feel like a new truck.

Simply call John Kennedy above and we will take good care of you.

AND before you do any major mods with the fuel you need to install gauges, boost and EGT, so you can watch everything going on in your engine
