You did not state what year truck so the CEL may come on if you remove the cat. So LLY's set the code with just a cat back and some do not. The LB7's in CA will also set the CEL with some cat back systems. Do a search here on the site and you will find lots of discussions on this. If your looking for quite with no drone check our system out.

If it has the latest ECM software you most likely wont get the CEL. I run MBRP cool duals and no catalytic converter and get no CEL. My truck is a CT emmissions truck which I beleive is the same as a CA emmissions truck.

so clean- Make sure to get a system that will allow you switch the cat in and out for dealer visits and possible emissions inspections in the future. There are several systems out there to choose from. For the 05's we recommend MBRP. Check out our site for more info and pricing. If you have any questions, dont hesitate to give us a call.

I have the MBRP and really like it. Installs easily and if I need to take the truck in I can put the front pipe back in place in about 20min. What ever you decide remove the cat you will feel a diffrence.

It call a front pipe replacement by most vendors. It bolts in place of the factory front pipe that has the converter. Check our web site and you will see it listed for the LB7 truck but it fits the same on a LLY. It's only smog legal for the LB7 trucks though.

so_clean_HD,

The cat back is a big improvement over stock, however when you add the front pipe you'll get quicker spool up on the trbo and a little lower EGT too. So which way to go is based on how much EGT drop you need and what you plan to do towing wise as far as weights etc. I wouldn't ever go with a system that wouldn't allow me to bolt the cat in and out, if you ever run into a unfriendly dealer with a non cat bolt in system you 're out ot luck. The Sliverlines do not have a cat bolt in capability, the MBRP have that feature. Since you have any 05 you can add the finger stick to kill the CEL if you get it, try it without first and get it if necessary. The MBRP is the most popular system here, check out the voting poll that was started a while ago, it's like ten to one for MBRP. You can get the systems in aluminized, 409 and 304 stainless and in singles and duals so the choices are endless. We are the oldest and largest MBRP distributor so if you have questions we can help you with them as we have heard them all at one time or another, give us a call if you need any help.

Hey Mark, on the cat thing do you mean you can remove the catless front pipe and replace it with the stock front pipe or do you mean you can bolt a cat into the new catless front pipe?

I just bought an MBRP cat back for my LLY. I have no other mods at this time, or planned yet. Are any of the dealers being unreasonable about warranty issues when doing cat-back exhaust only?

Clyde in Colorado,

No gaurantee of course as all dealers are different, but if the cat is left totally stock and in the stock location they generally could care less.

JoshH,

No it's a complete pipe all of it's own. Bolts in with the 4 bolt flange at the rear and the V band clamp in front.
