it's only good for holding an additional 50hp but I guess you can't expect much for $99

I agree. I have heard that the Bullydog kit offers a couple of trim valves.( I have not seen kit so I will withold judgement) There are other important things in the Ally that should be addressed during a modifcation. Most of us have played with our tuners and damaged C2 and C3 clutches; they need to be inspected. C2 piston needs to be modified as well.

A tranny kit for an allison for less then 100 bucks? Now I have seen it all. LOL

Trans go is cheapest thing out there thats worth a buck IMHO. But, like Mike L has said, will with hold judgement as I know nothing of the BD kit.

Dang Tomac, if we would have known about that thing a few months ago, look at all the money you could have savedhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif

Why don't you test them for us and give a report? You might find you didn't need Joe Webbs "Level V" after all. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif

I heard there was a miracle fluid (Redline?) that added something like 90 lb/ft holding capacity, or 100HP or something like that...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif

Is this a kit I could install in the driveway without removing the tranny? The transgo kit I installed in my 4l80E only took 4 hours, no tranny removal, and basic hand tools.

I would like to be able to run my juice/attitude in level 5 (125 hp) without worrying.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Disapprove.gif

Everyone knows the stathttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gifr belongs in the front of the trans, not the back.

CYCLONE,

I have not installed or puchased the kit. I posted the picture because I figured somebody knowlegeable could comment on the funtionality of the kit by looking at the componets?

I might buy it. The biggest concern I have is the fact that the website makes no comment in regards to shift quality. They only state that it will hold 50 more HP.

It reminds me of the old low dollar shift kits I put in FORD C-4's. They have 3 springs to choose from. Coffee spiller, whiplash and u-joint popper!Edited by: Bronco

I was considering one. Not everybody here has $5000 and wants to make 800+hp. It should make the Alli hold a 165Quad. I was wanting something quicker for this race season. Next year I will have money for the full upgrade, and 11sec 1/4 mile passes.

I SELL A LOT OF BULLY DOG BUT I FIND IT BEST TO GO WITH CUSTOMER FEED BACK AS THE MORE HONEST TRUTH.

There is not enough in the Bullydog kit to do anything but bump pressure a bit. The drill bit is only to exhaust some fluid because of the valves. Transgo designed their valves with check ball and spring(that took a lot of time and research to get it right) Bullydog machined a flat on each valve to try and acomplish same thing. Will this kit hurt your trans? Who knows. Probably not. If you think you can lay down 90 bucks, add some big horsepower and think you have a Suncoast equall; think again. These valves won't even come close to a Transgo kit.

Dave

If you use dual stators, you no longer need a trans that shifts. You would have a fluid drive.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif Ask Joe Webb about the old Buicks. You have never seen torque multiplied like the old variable pitch Dynaflows.

I was getting ready for the feedback you were going to get , I guess .... I thought it was going to be http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Shocked.gif'ing ....

Looks like A/B trim solenoid valves and a drill to open up a hole in the valvebody seperator plate ....

The Transgo kit has similiar valves ,allbeitdifferent, drill bit, couple front case gaskets ,sticker, key chain leakdown spring ,parking paw spring ,Detailed instructions and want a hole punched in the rotating module and claim 500+ HP .... Bullydog 50 HP .... Typo ?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif

Not taking away from Transgo (Mike take it easy http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif) .... I find all of this quite interesting for a varity of reasons .....

Cyclone peek in the directions see what they require you to drill ...

The big question is, will a person be able to pull a trailer with a 110 hp program and not get limp!!!

Bronco

After reading what Mike wrote about the Bullydog kit and what Mac wrote about the Transgo kit I do not believe there is much difference in the actuall area they are effecting to increase holding capacity. It seems like Transgo is doing it a little more accurately with the check ball and spring as compared to Bullydogs cut down plastic part. The Transgo would actually regulate fluid in different amounts? While the Bullydog will always let more through? Take away the keychain, stickers, pawl spring gaskets and we are talking about the same thing just doing it a little differently. The biggest question is what Mike asked, Will it hurt the Allison?

I am going to call Cyclone and get me one. I will need it to handle all the extra power I get from stacking the FASS and PREPORATOR!Edited by: Bronco

You leftout a few very important parts of the Transgo kit. How about the updates for the C2 pistion and the release spring changes. The BullyDog kit just puts a leak in the trim valves, an uncontolled leak at that! You could do the same by removeing the stock trim valves and a dremil tool and the cost would be nothing other than your time! I know I wouldn't want that in my transmission.

Does the transmission have to be removed to install the Bully dog kit?

Bullydog valves install without pulling trans. Transgo shift kit installs by pulling trans

Thanks MikeL!

My budget and current employment situation will allow me to do a $100 tranny mod in the driveway.

It will NOT allow me to do a $1500 tranny mod by a tranny shop.

Big question. How much extra hp will the bully dog really hold and will it hurt the tranny?

Thanks again!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif

Ok, I am looking for feedback?

How does the kit feel and shift. My truck seems to be shifting worse. I used to be able to spin the tires though gears on juice #4 (like heartbeatofcanada's picks), but now it leaves gaps btwn 1st & 2nd and cannot spin them in 3rd gear at all. I fear it needs to be taken out and looked over which i plan on doing next fall. I have never limp the tranny, however the truck had 50000 on it when i bought it.

If adding this kit increases holding power even just 50 hp more, I will add it. My question is will it effect my upgrade next fall.

Appreciate any info.

oh fyi, i am holding off the upgrade until fall because of this 30% increase in steel prices this last 2 month. I wonder who is pocketing that money???
