This set up was made for rock. Blurs your vison. Box is a perfect fit.

I might have to switch to behind the seat someday so I can fold my seats again. I miss that feature already.

Of course I do like having my shotgun storage compartment too.

Nice system.

Details? Specs? Are those four 8 inchers? That came out nice. I was torn between 4 8s or 2 10s and went with the 10s. Like yours, mine when cranked, blurs your vision.

On edit... Nevermind, I see the specs in your signature.

I am going with this:

I have a gun rack where my 870 and, on occasion my M15A4(t) occupy.

This is a dual downfire set up...but I do like inverterman's set up...must ROCK!

I like those down fire set ups but did not know where to put the amps. General specs are in my signature. There is better response for "bumping" with larger sets, but I chose the 8's for punch.

Petty, Lynard Skynard, Zep, Stones, Pearl Jam, Audio Slave, this set up explodes. The Focal components in the door keep up all day with mid and highs. It sounds especially good because of the pillar mounted tweeters.

Thanks for the complements folks. If anyone wants the box made with the same or a different setup I will hook you up with the shop that made it. 3/4" partical board, screwed and glued, covered with marine grade carpet. TOP NOTCH.

Yeah, I got the subthump box and have the amp screwed to the back of the 60 side of the rear seat. Only part I don't like is not being able to fold the seats down as I use my CC mainly for hauling crap. Other than that, its a great setup. I just stash the 870 behind the seat on top the flaps.

My flaps are still in place under the box with lead casing. That is where I keep the contraband.:badidea:

Inverterman are you running the front and rear speakers off just the 300/1. If so, how do you control front to rear?

Ooops. Good find. I edited my signature. As you can see it is a JL 300/4 with seperate input level adjustments.

Oh ,ok. Looks good. What are the dimensions of the box?

Clean set-up. Are you still able to fold down the rear seats all the way down? I was thinking of doing something like that.

That is the exact setup that I am going with. I was told that 4 8's would sound better in the long run than 2 10's.. Nice to know that another shop thinks so as well...

are the plastic corner vents removed?

I fit 3 10W3s in my Old crewcab and it thumped :) Inverterman, which shop built that for you down there, and how much did it run you? Thanks man

Also what headunit are you running, or are you running stock? If so, what interface? Thanks

Sorry guys, been out of touch.

1) The 60% seat does not go 100% flat unless there is a lot of weight there. I would have preferred that the second amp go under the 40% seat. Not so much a big deal so I left it where it was.

2) I will post the dimensions as soon as I can. Give me a couple of days on this.

3) Yes, they did remove the corner vents. The key here for sound and function for door closing and recirculating air, is the installation of Dynamat. I had the shop do Dynamat in the doors, roof, and especially the rear of the cab. Once the Dynamat was installed, they cut slits over the vent area on the rear cab section.

4) Audio Experts, Ventura Ca. Matt Fulton, (805) 642-4722 www.audioexpertsusa.com The whole deal was about $3600.

5) Runnng stock head unit. The GM Bose is a very good unit. Might upgrad to the Eclipse with navigation when I get a few more nickels.

6) The key to this system is the door speaker upgrade. If you only install subs, the Bose speaker system will not keep up, and your mids and highs will be lost. I considered just installing a 10" downfire in the center console and replace the stock one. I am glad I did not. Sounds like I spend a lot of money on this, but really it is the best system I have ever had or heard. Oh, there are louder and more expensive systems, but as clear, crisp, hard hitting? No, not that I have heard.

7) Sound is solid for classical, rock, country. Not where you want to go for "bump". However, these JL Audio V3 Subs cover plenty of lows.

Thanks, folks. I hope I covered all the questions:)

Did you ever get the dimensions on that box. Thinking about having one built like that. I want to install the setup like you have in my truck. Guy needs to know some numbers, as soon as you can. I guess I can call the car stereo place and talk to them. I think they would know what truck they did, maybe?

inverterman

55" long
10.5" rear
11" front (provides about the same exact angle as the rear seat backs)
4.25" top
6.75" bottom

Sorry it took a month but here are the specs for the sub box. Depth is limited so JL V1, V2, or V3 is probably the only thing that will fit.

Good luck with it. As I said before, Matt at Audio Experts in Ventura, Ca. would answer any other details you may have.

Don't forget to Dynamat the truck. At least the rear of the cab!

What line of Focal components do you have up front? Focal makes some excellent speakers.

Good looking system. :ro)

What about water? I have seen folks cut the plastic back, but I think removing them would be a mistake.

They move a lot of air and also serve the wx seals in the vehicle, by giving HVAC air a place to go. Just something to think about. It caught my eye.

The plastic vents that go through the cab are in tact. The "muffler" is removed. The dynamat has been cut in slots around the vent which seems to function like the big plastic "mufflers". There is still a fuctional flap in the vents.

165V2 Polyglass Separate with crossover in the front
690CA Adjustable direction Coaxials in the rear.

Entire truck is Dynamatted and make all the difference in the world.

I was thinking about going with 1/2 this system, 2- 8's. I just picked up a set of JL XR650 seperates for the front and coax for the back doors w/ a JL 300/4 amp. So many shop guys say "you don't want 8's" so I was set on one 10. I like clean sound, seems like two 8's will thump better than one 10. Essentially the box could be half this size? Do you guys know if a 250/1, or 300/2 bridged, would be enough for 2 8w3's?

Antnee77

Do you like a LOT of bass, or do you just want some nice, clean, tight bass to complement your system? If you want a lot of bass, go with the 10w3s, or if you really want something nice, the 10w6's. Otherwise, the 8's should do it for you. Oh, and if you do (2) 8W3's, the 250/1 bridged will do it.
