What is a good set of mud flaps for the 2500HD? And where did you get them?

Take a look here, they call them stone guards.

The way I see it, you basically have 2 options. You can go with the cloud rider kind (which are basically rubber with metal reinforcements) that are typically flat and come in a variety of widths and lengths. My first reaction was to go with this kind. If you search this place for mud flaps you will find all kinds of info.

However, I am running some 296/75/16 tires on the stock suspension and I have some clearance issues. The flat style of mud guards I speak of above typically mount on the inside of the wheel well and thus reduce the amount of clearance. I tested this by making some templates out of cardboard (which is thinner than the flaps) and mounted them up front. They rubbed.

So, I went to plan B. I just bought some molded flaps from GMParts Direct.com and they came in today. I mounted them in about a 1/2 hour total and they don't rub because they don't really protrude inside the wheel well. They definately don't give me the coverage I was after with the cloud riders, but I still think it is a decent compromise.

Did a ton of research into mudflaps for my 2500HD because I can't stand the things but wanted the protection. A lot of guys with white truck have serious problems with chipping the paint. Mine is Charcoal Metallic.

I finally went with http://www.duraflap.com/ with the S/S weights. Dennis is great to work with, the flaps are very, very well made. They come in a variety of sizes and lengths - Dennis can advise you on what to use for your specific application. Tell him you belong to The Diesel Place and he will knock off 10%. They cost a little more than others but I think they are worth it.

Truck looks great with them.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Thumbs Up.gif

http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif John R I have pictures of the Dura Flaps but I am having trouble getting the pictures pasted into this message. When I put them into the message they are way too big. Send me a PM with your E-Mail address and I will send them directly to you while I try to figure out how to properly resize them for this forum. Any suggesstions on the best way to put them in a reply message??? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Unhappy.gif

I'm running a set of PowerFlows. You can check them out here (http://community.webshots.com/user/jimwilson1000) (although, there's really no close ups).

My truck is deep red and the rocks put a few chips in it before i could get some mudflaps on. I went with the duraflaps and love them. No more problems with chips. I second all the above comments about the product and Dennis. I don't think that you will be disappointed.
