: Dually stainless steel wheel simulators?

I just called the best tire shop in town and asked them about
the Alcoa wheels but they can't be rotated as with the steel rims
unless you take the tires off the rims and swap them all out......
at my expense. They of course rotate them for free if I stay
with the factory steel rims.

Can anyone suggest a good set of stainless steel wheel simulators
for the our dually trucks? The tire shop will do rotations with these
on.

My steel rims are starting to show their age (rust)

Thanks........Edited by: 56Nomad

I went to simulators a number of years ago for the same tire rotation capability you're talking about.

While Alcoa made some for awhile, they've quit doing it. There are also a number of mounting styles which you have to consider. Generally speaking the DOT approved ones are strictly hubcaps. Some only secure with two lugs, I wanted the ones which are "under the lug" mounted and have a small cap on the outside of the lug nuts.

I went with Pacific Dualies simulators:

I forgot how many there are on the web site....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

I think these are the 29-1608 part number, sorry about that...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif

I'll post the only wheel type picture of the truck that I have for you, and one of the rear simulators is pretty well visible. They've got a really nice finish and I got mine for $200.00 with a little dealing. I believe they generally go for about $240.00 for this particular set.

Hi Zeeb,

You got the part number correct. I just call them and
they're $264. No negociating, even if I ordered them
to the body shop http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif

Man..... I love your garage. My truck is a kissin cousin
of your's but I can't fit in my small geeroge http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif

They look great. If I can find them cheaper...... I'm ordering
a set http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif

56Nomad,

Just hit your local tire shops is how I found mine. It's one of a small chain that exists here in Utah, but they have the usual custom wheels, tires, etc. They just called their distributor in Salt Lake City, and he got them.

The guy running the shop was pretty nice and I was wearing a Fire Department jacket. He told me they were supposed to be $240.00, and I found a couple of places on the web at that price, but he said something about helping out the "fireman" and gave 'em to me for $200.00 installed....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

So keep checking around.

I got the Pacific Dualies simulators. They fit great. I used the sock chevy center caps, think they look better.

I did the same thing after reading a post by someone on another thread about it. They do look better.

I posted some before and after pics on this thread, it's the fourth post:

I just priced them myself thanks to Zeeb. $260.00 also priced having front windows tinted and clear guard for the hood not cheap for the clear guard

Zeeb, Saguaro Kid and all.... I just got my Pacific Dualies delivered today. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif

I notice that the rear openings are pretty small compared to
our stock wheels, so I'll no longer be able to squeeze my hand
into it to air the inside rear tires.

Are you using a valve extender on the stock rubber valve
stems? A tire dealer told me not to use extenders on rubber
valve stems???? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

Umm...

Haven't done this one yet, but all the others I've just used the truck tire stuff. The air chucks are 'bout six inches long with about a 45 degree offset double openings piece on the ends for the valve stems, you've seen them?

Same thing for the pressures, I just use the truck pressure guages at the Fire Station....

Any rate, that's always worked before....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gifEdited by: Zeeb
