So here's my story, got eagle 589's in 01 and they are now on this truck and the finish is trashed. I am giving some real consideration to spray painting them gloss black and putting some clear on top. I have painted steel wheels before, but am not real sure how to prep alum.

I figured I would clean them with napa's acid based wheel cleaner, then wipe them down with thinner. Any thoughts??

Problem is I'm pushing my limits with my pregnant wifey. Just repaired my off-road truck today, and mentioned different pipes for motorcycle, and just about got my melon torn off.:eek:

i had some one time that were pitted. i wire wheeled them and bondoed the pits. spray primed and painted them. it lasted about a year before i had to repaint. I was surprised the bondo held.

Know any powdercoaters near you? That would certainly last longer than spraypaint.

I second the idea on powdercoating. Call some of the bodyshops in your area and see if they offer this service, you'll get a better finish and it will last longer.

I am still on the fence about spray painting!

I look at it like this, I could try the spray paint and it might last a year. If that happens they will want to sandblast the rims before powder coating them, so it's no big deal.

I would prefer to PC them, I have a my spokes done on my motorcycle and they are b!tchin!!!:ro)
