: Warranty Question
PAUL3500 02-29-2004, 08:03 PM We have a 36,000 mile 3 year, And a 100,000 mile 5 year warranty on these trucks. With all the injector issues going on does the warranty cover them or not? If not, Why? I do not use any additives (per my manual) Nor, Do I have a secondary or additonal filtering system on my truck. I buy all my fuel from one supplier (FLYING J) and keep all my receipts. I spent a good amount of money on this truck to start with and to have to spend more to cover what seems to be a GM problem does not set well with me. So far I have had no problems with my truck and hope that I dont. Maybe I should'nt worry about it but it seems like some people are spending a lot of money to have them replaced. Any input on this matter will be welcome. Thanks

Max Power 02-29-2004, 08:06 PM Injectors are coverer to 100k. I wouldn't be surprised if GM extends it but we won't know until it happens.
duramax dan 03-05-2004, 12:27 AM I could not agree with you more. Keep it stock and keep the fuel clean and let GM worry about any mods.
matt m 03-06-2004, 02:07 AM is that the deal the "truck" is covered 36,000 and basically the powertrain (including injectors and allison) is covered 100,000 miles? i sure hope so all these injector stories are making my head spin!
PAUL3500 03-06-2004, 05:22 AM I took my truck in for an oil and lube yesterday. I spoke to the Master Mach. about some things. I was concerned about the injectors and wondered if adding a secondary fuel filter would be necessary. He told me it was not bad or dirty fuel that was causing the injectors to fail. It was the design of the injectors and I would not need to put on extra filtration. The injectors are under the warranty and if one fails, He would change them all out. I ask about the possible life time warranty on the changed out injectors and he said he would look into this and let me know.
The main reason I bought my truck from this dealer is they have proven to be there in the past when I needed them and He has went to bat for me in the past also. I trust him on this.
He said this is a strong truck and I should follow GM,s maint sched. Enjoy the truck, and let the warranty take care of the rest.
Ya Know, I think I willhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif

Unless there is something new the Allison is only covered up to 36,000
JEBar 03-06-2004, 06:49 AM it is my understanding that on our trucks the Duramax engine is the only thing covered for 100,000 miles .... all else stops at 36,000

tanner 03-06-2004, 07:56 AM The engine 100k / allsion 36k
matt m 03-06-2004, 08:12 AM gotcha, thanks guys!
Paul3500,
In an recent agricultural study it was reported that 68% of fuel contaminants lie between 2 & 5 micron. Our filters are rated at 5 micron. IMHO - You may want to read the many posts here reagarding fuel, injectors, and filtration to get a "big picture" and not rely on just one opinion?

my baby is having new injectors installed on monday...it has 41k on it...the maint shop top mech pulled a warranty repair record on my truck (i bought it just 8 wks ago, and have only put 1100mi on it), and it runs SIX pages...2 injectors have already been replaced...gm was replacing only the ones that failed then...
the mech also told me the same thing that paul 3500's told him...bad injector design is the problem, and that i didn't need any other fuel filters...my gut tells me to add one, but i don't want to put my warranty in jeparody...the mech that's actually doing the work told me that no replacement injectors have come back...i have HIGH hopes!</TD></TR>
