: Getting an LBZ: WT or SLE1 Model?

Next week I am buying my new LBZ equipped truck. I am debating between a WT and SLE1 (3SA) package. I understand the conveniences like power windows, locks, and mirrors, are not in the WT models. Other than conveniences, are there any important items I will miss out on going with the WT? I assume no differences to power train, brakes, etc. is the DIC the same in both?

You lose some of the functions on the DIC unless you have steering wheel controls..

You lose AC in the WT don't you too.

You get air on the w/t, you have to delete if you don't want it.

Carpeting, resale value.

Neither may matter depending on your intended use.

When you order a W/T you can order everything that you want besides 4 things.1)rims 2)front chrome grille 3)fog lights4)steering wheel mounted DIC control and radio controls.I ordered mine as a W/T.I ordered the mini overhead console, which automatically gets you the "up-level headliner".Order power windows and locks and remote transmitter, and you get the same up-level door panels. You can order carpeting also for 100.Go to vehix.com and build it on there. They give you all the "fleet" options. It saved me alot of money,i got a set of 05 rims off of ebay (chrome steel) for 150.00.And i'm looking for a chrome grille.Hope that this helps you out and have a great holiday.

Fred-

Thanks. Great information.

Is there another way to get the information from the DIC without the steering wheel mounted controls? or do you completely loose this ability in the W/T?

Hello Mike,
You still have the DIC.You can reset the oil monitor by turning on the ignition (engine off) hit the gas pedal 3 times within 10 sec. and turn the key back off then back on,and that resets the oil monitor. The "High Idle" is set by turning key to the on position, hold the gas pedal to the floor, and hit the brake pedal 3 times, the DIC should then flash "High Idle on".That will cover the basics that you need for everyday running. The only thing you can't get to in the DIC without the steering wheel conrols are the % remaining (oil, fuel, etc.) Fuel MPG and some other features that i know i don't mind not having.I say get the truck built how you want it and enjoy.Hope this helps you out alittle more.

Thanks again for the info.

The reason I am considering the work truck is $$$. I would like to upgrade my horse trailer. I can either get the truck I want, or cut back on some of the conveniences and upgrade the horse trailer, too. Sounds crazy, but the features I might miss most are the mirror with the temp/compass, and the heated side mirrors. The difference in price is $5000 between the W/T and the SLE setup the way I want. $5k that makes no improvement or change in towing, power, etc.

Thanks again.

allmost. you can get a "3 in 1 scan gauge" that plugs into the obdII port. It will give you avg, inst mpg, avg mph, gallons used, gallons to empty, trip avg fuel/mpg etc. boost pressure, ect, IAT, % load, battery voltage, rpm, mph, reads and resets codes, etc. It won't give you oil%, IIRC cost is $125

Mine just arrived today. I got my instant MPG back!!! I can also clear codes. Cleared codes on our 2001 GMC Jimmy. It works on all three of our GM vehicles. Sweet!
