I just changed mine. Looking at your engine from the front of the truck: In the coolant crossover (silver, sort of rounded thing in the front), follow it back to your left a few inches and you'll see a brass "plug" with a (2) wire connection. I believe you need a 3/4 wrench to get it out. It can be done without removing anything, you just don't have a lot of room to swing the wrench. Have the new one ready to go so you don't lose to much coolant when swapping (I lost about 1 cup). Should take you all of about 5 minutes.
There is another temp sensor that goes to your dash gauge, but that one is somewhere in the block (I think).

Nows a good time to change out your coolant. I just did my sensor, t stats and coolant. The sensor lets a lot of the coolant out for you so just drain the radiator.

How much time in all?

Less than an hr.
Pull the rad cap, remove the lower rad hose, pull the sensor, let it all drain.
The easiest way to get at the 4 bolts in the t stat housing is just unbolt the a/c comp, 4 bolts and one bolt on the line running across the motor and lift it up a little and slide it back. You only need to move it 6in maybe.
Install the two new stats and the sensor and fill the antifreeze back up. Leave the cap off until it gets warm so you can add as needed. put the cap back on,bleed it out at the t stat housingand your done.
