Last tuesday I took the truck in for the latest update on the surge problem. I printed out the information I got here and gave that to them. When i got the truck back they said that the injectors were right on spec. so they did the software upgrade. I've driven the truck 375 miles sice I got it back and there is NO sign of surge, and off idle throttle respoce is much smoother than it's ever been. Another added bonus is the fuel mileage, 65% interstate, 35% everything else, 19mpg average. This is backed up with a refill and checking gallons burned. While on the interstate I set the cruse on 70 and even had a few WOT starts. The best I averaged before the flash was 15.5mpg.

So, even if you don't have the surge problem GET THOSE UPDATE'S!!:clap: :thumb:

I just got mine updated. When I drove it to the dealer I had returned it to stock tuning. After I drove out of the dealer I noticed it had less get up and go as compared to when I drove it in. Not huge but noticeable. I don't notice it after putting all the goodies back on.

I haven't experienced a single problem with my truck since getting it in July. Should I consider taking it in for an update?

Well, you know the old saying "If it ain't broke don't fix it". But, not only is the surge gone but the mileage is up, so maybe fuel management has been improved.

I just got mine reflashed it drives much better and my mileage is up also i would recommend it to anyone.

I brought in the TSB for smoke, rough idle, high balance rates and surge. I got it from the TSB section on this site. My service writer talked to the tech and the tech suggested writing it up as a white smoke rough idle problem and he reflashed it. My Dealer is pretty leanient on things though. Your dealer may not be as willing to do this. Of course I had my tires rotated and my seatbelt recall done at the same time so it wasn't the only reason I was there.

It would be useful to post your before/after flash part numbers. The dealer can provide it. That will help tie some cause/effect together.

obviously the bolded one is the one for the surging problem, but is it also the one that is resulting in better mileage?

In the dark about these updates- which engine do they apply?

They apply to the 04.5-05 LLY.

I don't know if the improved milage is just a positive result from the surge update.
