My OEM AC/Delco is going south so, without realizing I bid on a GM Truck '02' Bose radio (Model # 15073127) and won.:badidea: This replacement radio looks like the OEM radio I currently have. Reading up on the Bose radio's I realized that I needed Bose speakers/amplifier to make the system sound right. So back on Ebay and got an amplifier (Chevy Avalanche), 2 front door w/tweeters, 2 rear door and 1 sub-woofer (amplifier model# 15054672). The radio came with wiring harness with the Theftlock - unlocked; the amp and speaker did not come with wiring harness. I ordered the female adapters on line for the amplifier/speakers and it should be here in the next couple days. I still don't have the wiring schematics for either of the two and searched all over the internet looking for it. I don't want to sound cheap but I refuse to pay for a one time use schematics for two vehicles I don't even own - so if anyone has information on the radio and amps really appreciate it. There is still some other questions I have:

1. Are the radio and amplifier compatible and is there a wiring harness that will work? (OEM part number would be greatly appreciated)
2. Wiring schematics for both available?
3. The radio came with the Theftlock unlocked - what is the procedure on it's installation.
4. Does anyone have a complete Bose System they are willing to depart with for a reasonable price?

You all probably asing yourselves these questions:
1. Why is this guy going through all this trouble?
- Because I wanted the OEM look with a better sound system
2. Why not buy an after market system - it would be easier with a lot less headache?
- See answer above and because I don't want to admit defeat, I have all these parts laying around that I already purchased.

ahhhohhh boy...hmmm it looks like you have a mish-mosh of Bose components from all different years...let me look at everything and try to explain it...

The Bose radio you got from the 2002 WILL work in your 1995 Burban. The Bose amp from the Chevy Avalanche will not work with the 2002 Bose head unit because everything electrical changed for the 2003 year. So even tho both things are Bose, they interface with their respective head units a lot differently and are not compatible. A 2003 Bose head unit will not work with a 1999-2002 Bose amp and vice versa. Different wiring and volume is controlled differently.

Ideally what you need is the complete Bose guts from a 1999-2000 old body style Cadillac Escalade or GMC Denali. I know how you feel about keeping the stock look with a better sound system. Thats exactly why I went with a Bose "Luxury" amp upgrade and an OEM Escalade nav unit rather than an aftermarket one. It will be a big job, but the hardest part will probably be collecting all the parts. You will not neccessarilly need all Bose components from a 1999-2000 old body style Escalade/Denali, because as far as I know, the Bose amps and head units are unchanged from 1999-2002. BUT you will need the Bose speakers, tweeters, and subwoofer for sure from a 1999-2000 Escalde/Denali. The amp and head unit can from any 1999-2002 Escalade or Denali. 2003 and up Bose stuff will NOT work for sure. Here is a list broken down of what you need:

1999-2002 Bose head unit: check (you said you got a 2002 unit)

1999-2002 Bose amplifier: I would get a 2001 or 2002 Bose amp from a Denali or Escalade just to make sure it works with the 2002 head unit. As I said before, IM pretty sure a 1999-2000 old body style Bose amp will work with a 2001-2002 new body style Bose amp, but just to make extra sure, look for a 01 or 02 Bose amp.

1999-2000 Bose speakers, tweeters, sub: these MUST come from an old body style Escalade or Denali. Speakers from a 2001 and up SUV wont fit. DIfferent sizes.

PM me with what wiring diagrams you need. I have most of the "old" (1999-2002) Bose wiring charts so I can help you out with that...just a matter of looking at the charts and matching up wires in the harnesses.

However, you do have one other option... You can get an adapter from the company PAC and use your stock head unit (the one that came in your Burban) and then use that PAC adapter to hook up an aftermarket amp and aftermarket speakers. Im not trying to discourage you from doing the Bose install, but it will be a lot less work and if you get good aftermarket stuff, probably sound better in the end...plus you get to keep the stock look of your stock head unit. The aftermarket guts (amp and speakers) will all be hidden... Good luck!

Ben,
Thanks for the indepth explanation on what I have on hand and why it will not work. I haven't taken apart any speaker panels to see what will fit or not. I can fabricate and modify the speakers - if there is enough room to do it. But, I also saw something about speakers were also designed to work with the certain amplifiers - myth or not? If this is the case then I will go and buy the speakers at the dealership. The amp is another case, currently bidding on one for a 2002 on ebay. I will still need the wiring diagram for the radio. Thanks for the crash course on buying impulsively.

Definetly dont hook up non-Bose speakers to a Bose amp and vice versa...might just want to go to the dealer and buy all the Bose speakers and sub for a 1999 or 2000 Escalade/Denali. What is your email address so I can email you those diagrams?
