My new 2004 Silverado 2500HD LS 4x4 long bed LLY Duramax Allison transmission is down. Dealer seems to be taking a long time to get parts. Service dept. said they are waiting for 3 parts think mostly seals and gaskets. Been 6 days waiting for parts. Transmission was leaking fluid cause by poor machining or damage of some housing near oil pump. Because of this it leaked 2 qts ATF in 1350 miles. Fifth wheel all packed ready for trip to Florida but no truck. Bummerhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Disapprove.gif

This is my first diesel and first GM product since my 1977 Olds 88. Guess I should have bought Dodge with Cummings.

When I was investigating (via Internet) to purchase my Duramax, I talked with my local Service Manager about any & all problems he had incountered with the Duramax since they've been out. His reply was that just recently (last year or so) parts take about 10 days to get. Didn't know why, but otherwise no major issues with them.

I wouldn't worry about it. Of course it is an inconvienence that you missed your vacation but the allison is by far the best auto of the big 3. It could have just as easily happened had you have bought a Dodge. Had you have bought a cummins you would have also gotten a dodge along with that. Need I say more?

If you bought the Dodge with the Cummins and Auto Trans, instead of leaking seals, you would have twisting off the main input shaft to worry about. Too much torque, not enough trans. I'll take a leak over snapping my shaft any day!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif

Not to mention its hard to drive a Dodge because you have to put a bag over your head so know one knows its you driving.

Parts update. Called GM and they contacted dealer and dealer said they have reordered parts on a priority with overnight delivery.

Dodge would NEVER overnight a new head bag for a customer. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Evil Smile.gif

So is the trip on or off?

In the last 12 months I have had the opportunity to own Dodge/Cummins, Ford 6.0 PS, and now the D-Max. I understand your frustration with your sick truck but believe me when I say it's no greener on the other side. It is a lot worse. I even test drove an 04 Dodge before I bought my GMC. The interior was junk. Everything was so cheap looking. Very brittle looking plastic every where. I like the Cummins but I couldn't believe the quality of the truck they built around it. Hang in there.

Being retired the hold up was not a major problem just an inconvience.

One of the parts that was sent was wrong onehttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif now waiting for correct one. It will soon be spring here and there will be no need to go to Florida. This could save me a bundle.
