: fun in the mud
05LLY2500HD 12-20-2005, 07:39 PM Went home over the weekend, figured I would share the fun and will post pics asap.
Not a big deal, but don't get home often to have all the fun.
Nothing like family and friends around the fire, throwin back cold ones and getting our trucks REAL muddy. took my truck, uncle took his ferd dooley, friend in a RENTAL truck, and even good ol MAMA came out in her Kia Sephia or whatever the he** that thing is.
Went on the Sulphur River close to Texarkana, was really dry compared to before but still very fun.
well, the dooley got stuck almost every time he tried. had to pull him out with the good ol chevy several times. We went through one hole he right behind me and his headlights dissapeared.............under the mud. STUCK. he opened the door and it came in. Hell his exhaust was bubblin' under the mud. got him out with no problem everytime. anyway I have never had my truck this dirty.
OH YEAH...............I forgot to roll up my window. :duh: Seen the mud comin'
both front seats and doors, steering wheel and dash were covered. Motor too. From a distance is looked like I had a brown truck, you COULD NOT see the black paint. I smacked something with my bumper broke my passenger fog light and pushed the bumper up and in. It was fun and YES it was worth it, especially since I had no problems, didn't get stuck, I really pushed the truck and not a dam* thing wrong.:ro)
sorry for the long story, I will post pics in case anyone is interested.
Rttoys 12-20-2005, 07:54 PM Aaahhh, nothin' like good 'ol drunk'n mud splash'n:ro) I mudded mine with 500 miles on the odo, fun as he!!.
Don't forget to clean off the diesel cooler in front of the tank.
05LLY2500HD 12-20-2005, 08:12 PM here are a few....more to come......this is just the beggining after went thew them once, much more mud to follow.
05LLY2500HD 12-20-2005, 08:18 PM more..........
05LLY2500HD 12-20-2005, 08:26 PM even more........

DMAX KING 12-20-2005, 09:38 PM Looks like you had a blast. I sure would hate to clean it up though.
mannytranny 12-20-2005, 09:57 PM Good Lord
BTW, looks like you did a little Right front q panel redesign......
ACE21 12-20-2005, 11:02 PM Oh wow.
I wonder if the warranty will cover that?
looks like somebody had a lot of fun.
It will take you at least a couple weeks to clean that thing.
_nar_ 12-21-2005, 12:35 AM Looks like fun to me. Muddin is always good.
Looks like you broke the little clip that holds the turn signal in. I did that on the other side when we broke a 30000 pound strap and and it snapped back and dinged my bumper. The piece that the lights attach to is only $20 luckily... It's amazing how well the air dam holds up, until you get in some deep ruts and back up and pull it off... Then the fog lights look stupid, so you remve them too...
Man I need to build a new deerkiller bumper...
05LLY2500HD 12-21-2005, 06:22 PM yeah haven't looked at the light much, but the bumper was pushed up and in and I can't figure out how to push it back out or what is actually bent.........had to trim my air dam to keep the tire from rubbing, paid a guy $50 to clean it, looks a lot better just have to work on cleaning the motor now........how I dread it. Fog light is broke as hell and still full of mud. Oh well. I'll tell you one thing, next time I will make sure my windows are up and put some electrical tape on them to keep me from rolling down to take a look.

$50 to wash your truck!?! Where are you going next? I'd wash your truck anytime for $50! Must one hell of a wash job. Hope she was hot! (no offense to any female members.);)

I may have a nice expensive ride, but I too have had my trucks just as dirty as that. I stilll wash them myself. If you got the coin, do what you want with it. :ro) Sometimes I would have liked to pay someone also. Just don't got the coin to do so.:(

Heck it would take half of that at the local do it yourself carwash just to get the body clean, much less the under carrage and engine.
devil 12-22-2005, 12:31 PM yeah haven't looked at the light much, but the bumper was pushed up and in and I can't figure out how to push it back out or what is actually bent.........had to trim my air dam to keep the tire from rubbing, paid a guy $50 to clean it, looks a lot better just have to work on cleaning the motor now........how I dread it. $50.00 is dirt cheap to wash that truck, there is at least a couple of hours of work.
I paid a mobile wash company $50.00 to wash my truck last week and it has never seen mud like that.
05LLY2500HD 12-22-2005, 03:52 PM I was gonna wash it but was hardpressed for time, guy at jobsite offered, so I accepted. He did a great job, but I am still working on getting the engine area clean.
c12719 12-22-2005, 04:28 PM Just curious. How glazed (scratched) did the windshield get from the wipers tracking across all that mud? Looks like you had fun though!
05LLY2500HD 12-22-2005, 05:15 PM Just curious. How glazed (scratched) did the windshield get from the wipers tracking across all that mud? Looks like you had fun though! actually windshield is not scratched, but my drivers side window is, hard to get all that mud out of the door/window track. Yes I had lots of fun, guys were saying I was throwing mud much higher than the trees. It was awesome............hmmm think I might go home for New Years.......:grd:
That truck will never br the same.
mannytranny 12-24-2005, 04:39 PM That truck will never br the same.
Thats what I was thinking.......
dozerboy 12-24-2005, 09:51 PM You two must be scared to take your trucks out of the garage. And with sometime and work it could be the same or better.
mannytranny 12-25-2005, 12:45 AM There is a big difference between work and playing around in the mud.....I use it for work only.
And I am not ragging on the guy, its his truck he can wreck it if he wants......
_nar_ 12-25-2005, 01:29 AM You just said "not ragging" and then you say "wreck it". He bought it he can use it how he wants. Just because you don't use yours that way doesn't mean it is wrecking it if he uses it another way. Try to be a little more positive sometime why don't you? Next time you feel the need to talk down to someone in their thread why not just keep it to yourself? That's what most people's mothers taught them when they were young...
I get mine that muddy sometimes working, depends on the weather. So actually there isn't a big difference between working and playing in how the truck gets used. I do play around in the mud as well, it's not a big deal.
mannytranny 12-25-2005, 01:47 AM Have you learned anything???
I am not a positive guy.........):h
I just could never bring myself to driving a 40k truck like that for the fun of it. Ya, Ive gotten a bit muddy when doing work, but never anything like that.
This is a lame thing to even have to argue.
Its his truck he does what he wants.
cmerrick 12-25-2005, 08:58 AM One thing to think about is the perception of the general public. As an advocate for land use and land access in the North East for off road recreation, this type of negative image is something we are constantly battling - "rednecks ripping it up and showing it off". Public land to recreate on in New England is scare and we have turned to private landowners for access to recreational opportunities. If a landowner sees this type of display, they ask themselves "do we want to allow this type of activity on our property?" This also gives ammunition to the environmental groups who take images and comments such as this and use them as propaganda to get areas closed down. We fight hard to keep open the limited resources that we have. The Nature Conservancy and Sierra Club are watching and browsing forums such as this. To see what we are doing in the North East check out North East Association of 4 Wheel Drive clubs at http://www.nea4wd.org
mannytranny 12-25-2005, 12:35 PM Good point Cmerrick.....

We didn't rip it up and show off, we were just havin a little fun, we didn't tear anything up(except for the ferd  ) the land had some puddles of muddy water, rather large puddles of water, but I promise you we didn't make it any worse than it was. It's not like we tresspassed, made big ruts, threw our beer bottles in the woods and killed every animal in sight. We just got a little muddy and drank a few cold ones on public property far away from any human being other than ourselves, we didn't bother anyone other than maybe you, or the two of you. This place is well known and accepted as a public place to camp, shoot guns, mud whatever.......as long as no one is hurt, including animals. The locals, and officials are all ok with it. The same "rednecks" that tear it up are the ones that help clean it up.
I'm not sure how you guys do it up there, but we're not litterbugs or stupid rednecks that care for nothing other than ourselves. Keep your stereotypical attitude to someone that cares to listen.
With all do respect, I'm not trying to start a pissing match. But if your gonna voice your opinion, well I started this thread so I will make sure to voice mine as well.
BTW, maybe I am a redneck, I don't care but I do know I am happy with who I am and the way I live, and happiness, well it's what makes life so great. Merry Christmas, oh wait........I mean..........Happy Holidays.
_nar_ 12-25-2005, 07:43 PM Good post 05LLY2500HD..
05LLY2500HD 12-25-2005, 07:50 PM Good post 05LLY2500HD.. thankks I' glad there is someone to back me up and believes what I do .:ro)
twotone 12-25-2005, 07:57 PM Sweet, you have to be the first person Ive ever seen actually man up with Helo's on his truck
05LLY2500HD 12-25-2005, 07:59 PM Sweet, you have to be the first person Ive ever seen actually man up with Helo's on his truck forgive me, but I do not know if you like or dislike the Helo's? I hate em.

Nothing wrong with going through some puddles.......

cmerrick 12-25-2005, 09:34 PM I did not mean to offend or chastise anyone in particular... my point was that we (offroad enthusiasts) are being scrutinized by the greenie groups and our actions are being used against us. We have had a number of New England areas closed due to irresponsible use, ignorance of the laws, or green groups claiming there might be habitat for the 3 eyed whooping toad. In CT there is no public areas for legal wheeling anymore. MA isn't far behind. MA DCR (Division of Conservation and Recreation) has fully embraced the principles of the Wildlands Project and is active working with The Nature Conservancy to bring this to fruition. This means no motorized recreation on public lands in MA.
mannytranny 12-25-2005, 09:58 PM Yup, it is really sad how a few can screw it up for the rest. 90/10 rule....90% are good stewards of the land, 10% destroy it for the rest. (not referring to 05LLY)
kinda the catch 22 of off roading.
twotone 12-25-2005, 10:43 PM forgive me, but I do not know if you like or dislike the Helo's? I hate em.
personally I like them but I was saying that Ive never seen anyone get them muddy;)
Dmax05 12-26-2005, 12:53 AM Thats gonna be a BI*CH to clean!
duramaximizer 12-26-2005, 08:46 PM I got to do that to my dad's truck, I was trying to be a good neighbor and go over and pull him out. 2 hours of pressure washing and it was still dirty.
It wasn't all over the truck, just stuffed the fender wells full. It was fun none the less, but a bi*ch to clean.
50 bucks is cheap. I prolly used 5 gal of diesel in our hot water presure washer, not including my time and sore arm for the next week.
05LLY2500HD 12-26-2005, 10:26 PM believe it or not, this wasn't that bad, I took it through the automatic wash before guy washed it. the hardest part is the engine bay and undercarriage.
LeadfootDuramax 01-03-2006, 04:58 PM I am not sure your window is scratched...maybe the tint on the inside. If you rolled the window down it got mud in the "felt" The strip that seals against the window on each side. If you can roll the window down and get a close look you will prob see dirt there. You can try to clean them or just replace them. Worth a shot if you are tired of the window looking scratched and dirty.
Looks like you had fun though.

Looks like you had fun though. yeah it was a pain to clean the felt and I just kept cleaning the window and felt, and now no mud comes back up. I would do it all again.....IF.... I could keep the mud out of the engine area.
wyattroa 01-04-2006, 11:02 AM im still wondering how so much mud got up in the engine area...i have been through so deep suff and muddy stuff and go nothing like that in the engine area.
robert
ladukeja 01-14-2006, 10:18 AM Looks GOOD! I hope you can get that engine clean again. Engine brite works wonders imo. I went mudding with my dirtbike on Thurday. Haha. 50 Degrees in Michigan in early January. go figure. It took me an hour to clean with the powerwasher. I wanted to take my truck to the feild too, but I don't have rims for my mud tires yet, and no posi yet. Muddiest I ever got this thing hehe.
