well for those of you who are familar with my threads "dmf probelms" "jingle rattle" this has been making noise for 2 month now and they replaced dmf, driveshaft and no fix. as I said before the dealer had a "field rep" come out he wouldnt let em put in any more parts or labor in the truck until the engineers told him what to repalce. well the m'fers got back to me and said the noise is deemed as normal for a zf-6 which is bull$hit! even the service manager said he knows its not normal. he told this all "off the record"he would be risking his job if he put any more parts in my truck. but now this is all in the computer system. so now if I go to another dealership itll show right up that thats noise is normal. any suggestions??Censored:help:

have them duplicate the noise in another truck with a zf-6 and when it can not be done then see what the rep has to say, he may be back stepping then.
Demand that they do this and stand your ground if you are absolutely sure you are right.

Bummer man, did they replace your pressure plate when they did the flywheel. Besides the flywheel this would be the only other place which could make the noise you are describing. I still say try another dealer, I don't know how long it takes for the information to show up in their system. Plan B, just buy the Dynadroit/SBC aftermarket kit! Good luck.

ya another dealer will be the ticket I think. Believe it or not bigd the service manager(who was on my side) tried to find one and he wants to be exactly same truck 2wd zf and the closest one to me is in oklahoma I live outside chicago! its even hard to find a 4 wd not a big market for manual trans out here. I would love to do that and shut him up.

I also have what I would call a slight rattle that is RPM specific. It was present when I first got mine and now after 24,000 miles it might be just a tad worse. Occurs mostly around 50 in overdrive.

Most of my other trucks with sticks will " resonate" at certain speeds.

With what you have already done, are they sure it is in the drive train? I noticed another thread that had issues with "rattle" and they found it to be in the exhaust system. The fix was to place extra weights around it, but I can't find the link right now.

I live in Cedar Rapids now, use to live in Crystal Lake and I go back their to visit frequently. If you want to arrange sometime to listen to mine that would be okay. It's a 4wd though.

It is tough to find a stick these days. I had to order mine as you probably had to do as well. My dealer did a search with a radius down to Texas at the time and they couldn't find one then either.

I also get a rattle from the trans when in overdrive running at 85 down the interstate. I am in the Peoria IL area if you wanted to compare the rattle some time. It is a 4WD but it is still close.

I had to order my truck as well and the sales guy looked at me like I was crazy when I said I wanted the 6sp.

Damm you know I have heard of that one but didn't occur to me...it is more common on the ZF's due to the amount of movement the motor has during clutch release when towing or during hard launches! He is a knowlegable guy and deals with alot of zf-6 trucks. Let me know if he is right...I'll owe him a beer! Good luck with it!

Have you tried to hold the Tcase shifter just a tad? Mine rattled to beat the band. I could hear it over the radio. Drove me nuts. If it is that the linkage that connects to the Tcase shifter is rattling. I disconnected it and added a couple flat wahers behind it to take up the slack.

The last time I took mine in with the death rattle, (55K miles)they told me that GM would not longer be replacing the DMF..........when it rattles............as long as it still worked..............until they could find the permanent cure for the problem. It has been about another 40K and is still rattling...but still going. I will be getting a new SMF and clutch in the near future.
