My 2001 HD2500 crew cab is using antifreeze. This seemed to come on at about 75000 miles. My dealer installed new injectors at about 65,000 miles. My dealer said they checked the injector cups and they are ok. They are going to fill it up with antifreeze and give it back to me. They can't seem to find any leaks. I haven't been able to find a leak either. Although the truck seems to smell like antifreeze after u drive it.
The truck will soon be out of warranty. approx 8 or 9000 miles left on 100,000 mile warranty. I am not too happy about the fill it up and drive it till its out of warranty routine. My area service rep says to make sure the dealer documents the complaint.
IS my dealer jacking me around or will chevy really not pay to look any further for a leak. What should I do?

I like the Duramax, it is awesome ! I do want any issues fixed under warranty.
I have read previous posts about head gaskets and hoses leaking etc. How should I deal with my dealer and not get stuck with this problem??

As long as it's documented and you bring it back showing it is still using I wouldn't worry yet.

Did they do a C02 test on the coolant to determine if it is a interior leak? You can buy your own kit fairly cheap to test for yourself.

Define antifreeze smell after driving,I had a leak on the upper turbo coolant line that gave a smell.

The dealer said " we have never performed a CO2 test" and chevy doesn't pay us to do so..
PS I plan to pick up the truck tomorrow and look at the lines myself. I already looked it over well and didn't see and moisture. The dealer said they put some dye in the system...

Do you have any puddles under the truck after driving it? Where are you smelling this from, inside the truck, outside, both, front, right, left side etc??? Might help to track it down..

Check out the DIY section.
We have found a well documented weak point in the Turbo coolant lines.

Very tough to find, and the trace dye DID NOT FIND IT on my truck either.

How long after you drive her does the low coolant light come on. Mine did the same thing and I thought it could be head gasket, turned out my water pump was bad and leaking slowly under the weep hole.

Do you have another dealer close to you that you can take it to? If so, I'd try a different dealership.

My 2001 started to eat oil, fuel, and anti. when the fuel injectors went. They were replace right away under warranty. :ro)
