It is not hard to install, but that really depends on the person at the other side the tools. You will have to remomve the ECM and you'll have to solder the wire and pin.

robertleeii...I got a helpful hint from andrewfessler about installation on our '03's. You'll have to check to see if your '02 is the same. But we ordered our high idle kit from Eric at Merchant Automotive (his link is in my sig and the pin is already soldered onto the wire), then used the Kennedy installation instructions for wiring up the ECM. Next, we used the LLY instructions found in the DIY folder for wiring up the brake switch. And...it works perfectly!!! Both 1200 RPM and 1700 RPM settings. No need to install a second toggle switch to activate the high idle.

I tried to install the high idle kit from summit racing and for some reason it didn't work but i was told it could be many reasons why. I think its because its a stick. But it also said something about dealer programming it in a . So i never got mine to work so now it just sits in my basement if anyone know help me

Yea, from what I've heard, the high idle mod is basically tapping into the PTO idles the truck has built in because the Allison has the mounts to set up a PTO. I don't think the 6 speed has a PTO mount so I don't think the ECM is programmed to offer the high idle abilities. Just my 2 cents...

Have you tried using the installation instructions provided by Kennedy Diesel? He's got some really good info in those instructions for different model years.

The 6 spd.s have an option for ptos as well. I don't know of any heavy duty standard that doesn't. I haven't payed much attention lately but I think it has a cover on both sides of the trans.
