The edge is great if your planning on keeping your tranny stock.

Now if your ready to upgrade your tranny, you have a few really high hp options such as the TTS Xtreme, PPE Xcelerator and various stacking options.

You have to figure out how much power you will settle for and what you want to do with the truck.

Just remember, hp is very addicting. The more you have, the more you want.

Nice truck BTW! ;)

Why is someone with 4 posts advising someone with 9 posts? Whats wrong with this picture? Could both posts have come from the same computer?

wow with a name like CRAZYLARRY they coudlnt POSSIBLY be affilliated with Bully Dog... nahhh didnt think so. 4 of the 5 posts have been promoting BULLY DOG products.

Hey Crazy Larry-- since it REALLY seems like you have something to do with Bully Dog, can you tell us when the LBZ tune will come out?? (yeah, the one that was SUPPOSED to come out on 11/21/05)

most sincere regards,
--Ben

swangin68-- For a stock tranny'd truck I think pretty much everyone has been having great luck with the Edge. It has good tranny and EGT protection features and the Attitude is really nice. Although I woudlnt bother with the Attitude A2 tho... On level 5 the Edge puts down a good amount of power. Especially a Hot Juice. Low 14's are easy with the Edge. But if you are looking for all out MAX power and are going to build your tranny, the TTS Extreme is hard to beat.

For a stock tranny, you have many options. Just don't go consistantly above +100 HP.

If you want a harness tuner, you can go with an Edge Juice/Attitude. It gives you gauges and tranny protection. You also have VanAaken, but you'd have to buy gauges.

If you'd rather have an upload-type tuner, BullyDog, Quad and Predator are good ones. All can read codes, too.

Do some research here...there are plenty of "Whats the best tuner?" threads already hashed out.

Stay under 100 RWHP and you should by OK for a long time.

Damn, Tom beat me to it.

12-18-2005, 08:55 PM
dosent edge juice attitude put out way more then 100 hp...or just dont go above 3.. and whats the difference between uploaded and harness. what do u upload...whats wrong with the hypertech.

the standard edge does not go much above 100.....They do make a hot edge that is but it is too much for a stock trans. You really just need to decide what options you want and pick one. I personally chose to not get the edge because I have bigger tires and wanted the speedometer correction. The predator is what I run for my small tune you can correct speedo, read and reset codes and get rid of the upper speed limiter.

swangin68
12-18-2005, 10:08 PM
what hp do u get with the pred.. how many levels, and do u like it...i have 37's also. so i need the speedo correction..im looking for some extra power only not a racer or dragger. want to keep my stock ally running a long time....

racinmike77
12-18-2005, 10:18 PM
I was just thinking about the predator while reading this thread. It would work great on the economy setting for you (65 HP) and you could turn it up to a higher race/rice killer setting when you want. Also you could make the corrections for those 37" tires youre turning.

swangin68
12-18-2005, 10:23 PM
is it a on the fly adjustment,,how many levels. and what do u think about the hypertech

hdd-max
12-18-2005, 10:25 PM
predator has much more power than the hypertech. The predator can go to 120hp 255ftlbs i believe. Yes I do like the pedator you just need to watch egt's if you tow heavy and plan on running high HP

hdd-max
12-18-2005, 10:28 PM
no on the fly adjustment on predator.... Thats why you have to decide what functions are important and go from there. What exactly do you want the programmer to do or not do then we can give you some better idea of what will give you the most.

swangin68
12-18-2005, 10:56 PM
so i have to get an egt gauge...i tow light car trailers(maybe 6000 lb) only once in a while no boxes or nothin...mostly regular driving. im looking for good power speedo correction and as many features as i can get...mainly protection features..all for the cheapest price. overall pound for pound thats what i need...i need somethin that will work for me so i dont have to drop big loads of dough in it...just want somethin solid and reliable with good features

Most every one of these questions have been asked and answered quite a few times before. Do a few searches.

With the Predator you need gages even if you never tow, or carry anything at all. On a full throttle run from 40 to 85, while running the Predator on the 85 hp setting, you will see 1500* or more in 75* weather.

I have both the Quad, and the Predator. I quit using the Predator more then two years ago. The Quad gives much more power, more setting choices, and runs several hundred degree less.

I have never been able to get the EGT over 1378* with the Quad, yet the Predator can hit 1700* in about an 1/8 of a mile under full throttle.
(This is the Predator for the LB7!) Maybe the newer one is better, but after 2 upgrades, and each one worse then the last, I gave up on the Predator.

If you want protection features you have to get a piggy back box like a edge or a banks or a VA ect, download type programers(quad, predator, hyperteck ect) cant back down based on EGT or trans slip. Piggy back boxes cant adjust for tire size though. The best "protection" and back down device is located between your ears though. Also TTS is the only co that has a switchable type downloader/ECM but its more HP than you want.

He he. :D Have no interest in BullyDog what so ever. I think there are better options.

I've read hours and hours and hours of Archives. Lurked along time before becoming a member too.

How is this: 2003 Silverado Ext Cab Long Bed 4X4, Suncoast level V w/ Velocity 1054, HOT Juice w/ Attitude, AFE Stage II, Banks SS Monster Exhaust, Banks Big Head, Eaton E-Locker, 285/75R16 Cooper Discoverer STT's on American Racing Teflon Mojave's.

Soon to come: Dual Lift Pumps, Tunner (to stack), Tie Rod Sleeves, and some new gauges. I'm going to try to do some sled pullin' this next year.

Also: I have new 2006 DuraMax's and usually some previous model year trade-ins on the lot.

attitude dosnt correct for tire size. it just displays your speed based on corrected tire size on its screen. Its like saying a GPS in your vehicle is correcting for your tire size IMO.

Sorry I wasn't specific...I'll clarify.

The Edge w/ Attitude will show a corrected speed on the Attitude monitor for oversized tires once you have input the proper number in to the setup area. Your Vehicle's Instrument Cluster will continue to show an incorrect speed and odometer reading.

They already have the power pup out for the lbz, triple dog will be coming soon. Power levels on the power pup (not an on the fly programmer) range from 48-138hp.
