: Diesel fuel prices
tomtahoe 02-25-2004, 07:38 PM I bought diesel fuel last week at $1.65/gallon and the same station is now at $1.95/gallon. My whole town is running ~$1.89-1.99/gallon at the lower cost places. They have all gone crazy on the prices. Not that I want to feel bad, but what are you guys seeing around the country as far as an increase in the last week? This is ridiculous BS. I thought diesel fuel prices were supposed to be more stable than gasoline. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gif
Ace_of_Chaos 02-25-2004, 08:12 PM Filled up last ( about a week ago ) at Wally-World Super Center @ $1.449 with Wally-World Gift Card. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif

What gets me, is that in NJ, it's cheaper, and they pump it for you!
burkm 02-25-2004, 09:56 PM 1.37 to 1.51 in Tennessee. and on the rise
rickles04 02-25-2004, 10:00 PM HELL I JUST RUN RED..........YEAH YEAH I KNOW ALOTA WHATIFS BUT ITS NOT THE FIRST LAW I BROKE SO O WELL
65Bowtie 02-25-2004, 10:12 PM Being new to Diesel this may sound stupid. I know that gas cannot be purchased in bulk as it degrades, and requires a stabilizer. Lets say I want to go to somewhere were fuel is cheaper and buy, say about 6 55 gallon barrels, and store them in my garage. Will it go bad, also with summer just around the corner do you suppose there may be any problem with it being stored in a 120-130 deg garage?
Just some what if's
BTW #2 here is $1.85+
Oldman 02-25-2004, 10:18 PM $1.57 to 1.60+ in Anchorage. $1.67 out in the valley where I live. I imagine it's close to $2.00 or more in the interior.
Lightning 02-25-2004, 10:31 PM $1.91 at the local station, used to be $1.65 a few weeks ago. I'd love to pay the Oaklahoma prices, or basically any non-cali price.
Searay90 02-25-2004, 10:42 PM 1.599 to 1.679 here in dallas TX
HOOKEM 02-25-2004, 10:57 PM $1.59 to $1.85 in my area. Cheapest fuel is at the indian colony gas station/smoke shop (Sinclair), but anything is better than the state west of here.
SEABEE_CHIEF 02-25-2004, 11:03 PM 1FEB04 $1.62/GAL
10FEB04 $1.52/GAL

25FEB04 $1.58/GAL
All at Love's Truck Stops I-40 in Tennessee Exit 87
This includes a $0.21 tax that goes to the road fund that put Tennessee #1 in the votes by American over the road trucker's last year. Too bad the Governor has cut back over 10% in road funds in the past year and a half and taking these taxes away from TNDOT. His good grace and our bumpier rides, I rest my case.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gif
SteveCA 02-25-2004, 11:13 PM As I suspected, we are being ripped once again in California! at 45 cents a gallon difference, you'd think someone would have competitive prices in CA, but not when you have a price fixing oligopoly that has been fixing gas and diesel prices for the better part of the last two decades at work.... and no one in government with the balls to do anything about it!
It makes me fume just thinking about it.

If your local Fire Department finds out about 6 fifty-five gallon drums of fuel in your garage, you won't have to worry about whether or not it goes bad, just the disposal fee for hazardous waste.....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Geek.gif
It's really not a good idea.....
Diesel was $1.59 here today, regular gas was $1.64.Edited by: Zeeb
Wiseman 02-25-2004, 11:25 PM It dropped to $1.599 at a high volume BP station in Belpre, OH about 2 weeks ago. It had been $1.699.

I'll venture to guess that the tax'us/spend'us democrats of your state are to thank for a hefty gas tax.

Fred G 02-25-2004, 11:50 PM Paying 1.49-1.59 in West Michigan (Grand Rapids) area. Last week on trip to the Upper Peninsula prices ranged from 1.55 to 1.75. Prices did jump 10 cents late fall/early winter and have stayed there ever since. No complaints though as gas is 10-15 cents more per gallon everywhere!
optimax 02-25-2004, 11:51 PM $1.47 in Kentucky at Truck stops!

Kartattack 02-26-2004, 07:38 AM When I left CA 4.5 years ago, the tax (Fed/state/local) on a gal. of regular unleaded was $0.47. I don't know how that compared to other states then, but it seemed high.
A place I bought gas from (quickie stop called CHEAPER) posted the tax breakdown on the pumps.
textech 02-26-2004, 07:45 AM $1.46 for Shell Premium Diesel
$1.42 at Flying J Truck stop.....both in North Houston TX.
MrFreeze 02-26-2004, 08:04 AM About a $1.60 in southern Minnesota and around a nickel cheaper than gas.
dmaxscott 02-26-2004, 08:30 AM 1.67 in the Thumb or Michigan.
As for 55 gallon storage go for it, keep it covered up. Your business is your business.

4x4man 02-26-2004, 08:54 AM It is $1.43 for Shell Premium Diesel here in Aurora, CO. It hasn't moved in probably 6 months or so. Had been waiting for it to go up for the winter, but never did this year. However the gas prices around here fluctuate weekly it seems..
Bob
1.49 In Katy, Texas at the local Shell station. I'm sure i could find it a little cheaper. But i have only filled up with one tank of diesel so far.
Idle_Chatter 02-26-2004, 09:04 AM Been jumping around here in Ohio - last tank was $1.649. I just got back from a Florida run. Cheapest going down was Georgia at $1.349, Florida was $1.799!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Dead.gif Prices had risen by the return trip, cheapest was Virginia at $1.439. It's sure nice to have an aux tank and be able to "shop around" when one tank goes dry! I topped off both thanks at the FL/GA line going down and managed to get out of Florida with only one OEM tank (23 gals) purchased down there!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif
charlielake 02-26-2004, 09:11 AM After doing the conversions I am paying about $1.95 U.S. here. To make it worse the mileage suffers with the winter fuel and all the idling. Hope that cheers you up a little.
Dura_Mike 02-26-2004, 09:11 AM Prices range from $1.53 to $1.59 in No. Utah

Oldman 02-26-2004, 11:01 AM I'm actually feeling pretty good about our prices now. They seem to be about the same as you guys are paying down in the lower 48. I remember a few years back when gas was $.25 a gallon in the states it was $.55 up here. OK, maybe it was more than a few years ago. Any how, it's nice to see something is semi-fairly priced up here!
GMC-DMAX 02-26-2004, 11:28 AM Here around Jacksonville Fl. the price diesel stays around the same as regular gas. Which is right now $1.65
There are a few places that are a little cheaper but they look like they don't do a lot of diesel sales, so I stay away from them also.
Rookiew/Dmax 02-26-2004, 11:37 AM Metro Detroit Area pricing:
Low volume dump (I think is was a Sunoco) - $1.49
3 High Volume truck stops (BP, Speedway & Pilot) - $1.69
Redapple 02-26-2004, 12:05 PM I have seen from 193 all the way to 219 here in SoCal for Diesel. Reg gas even higher. The stupid polititians keep raising the taxes for fuel, and the damn oil companies are gouging us. They say because Cal requires all kinds if different additives to meet the standards of the Cal clean air act it is more expensive to produce. My A$$, the are just ripping us off. Wish I had some of the prices you guys are quoting. My wallet hurts.
Bill
WOJO 1 02-26-2004, 01:10 PM 1.67 at the place I stop. Unleaded is 1.95. Diesel was way up there to 1.85 or so not that long ago. So 1.67 does not hurt so bad. You guys and your 1.30's and 1.40's should be thankful.
mwallace61 02-26-2004, 01:17 PM $1.59 to $1.69 here in North Alabama
Diesel Nub 02-26-2004, 03:28 PM 1.69 in lower mid michigan
tomtahoe 02-26-2004, 03:48 PM Obviously I brought up a topic that touches a lot of us and we received lots of good replies. I will be interested to see what you are paying in a week or two. Maybe the prices have not gone up all over the place like here, but a number of you have or are paying what I paid 1-2 weeks ago. If it is like here, look out!! Keep us up to date on what you are seeing. I think our Governator needs to see this thread and I just may try to figure out how to get this info into his hands. The last bout of price increases on gasoline, diesel held steady but not this time. Wonder why? Are we helping pay down the budget deficit in CA and no one told us? If most other states are paying much less, what else can cause a 30 cent/gallon price increase in ~1week?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Disapprove.gif
Hacksaw 02-26-2004, 04:46 PM I believe it is probably going up proportionately, I believe the wages and cost of living out there in CA. is much higher than here. I paid $1.44 last weekend here in central Texas.
Dmaxcan 02-26-2004, 05:31 PM In Vancouver BC. I'm paying 67.9 / litre Cdn or about $1.92 / Gal. US for diesel. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif If I'm willing to drive out of town about 20 miles it's 59.9 / litre or about $1.70 / Gal. US. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif
Gas is changing from 75.9 to 84.9 / litre about twice a week which works out to between $2.15 and $2.41 / Gal. US http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif
Fin-Addict 02-26-2004, 06:31 PM cheapest place I've seen in NY is $1.81.....most expensive was $2.25 a gallon out in the hamptons!! Average is between $1.81 and $1.90.
duramaxdiesel 02-26-2004, 07:15 PM Diesel out my way is $.82.9/L. I guess that equals to roughly $3.32/Gal U.S.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif

There's nothing wrong with doing that. In the East, most of the homes that have oil heat have a 275 gal tank in the basement. Granted that's a little cooler than your 120-130F. How do you survive in that anyway? I would pass out in a couple minutes. It would prob be easier just to buy an oil tank and put it up on blocks and let gravity do it's thing. Less clutter than pumping out of a bunch of barrels. You could also add a filter inline and you'd be better off than the station. Also this way you could have a truck come out for bulk delivery. Prob give you a better price too.
Stizo 02-26-2004, 07:45 PM Central NJ is $1.51 at the high flow places down from $1.59 a couple weeks ago.
Think I paid $1.79 in Northeastern PA last week. Of course I only bought a few gallons

duramax dan 02-26-2004, 09:19 PM I paid a $1.85 last night in Fresno, California. But gas prices are at $2.09. Welcome to California.

What I don't understand is how Hess fuel can have 2 stations less the 4 miles apart and I have seen the same truck unload diesel at both stations and the prices difference is 6 cents. Why is this?
Its called price gouging.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif And it makes me http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gif.

Tsckey 02-29-2004, 12:23 AM 49er Truck Stop in Sacto this evening was $1.99/gal. I understand from a very reliable source that by mid-Summer all pumps will be fitted with a device that looks alot like an old-fashioned washing machine wringer. To buy fuel you stick your head in it and it squeezes the sh!t out of you.

dmaxer 02-29-2004, 03:05 PM One allegation of price gouging. I don't think so this time. You see that around all the well-travled holidays with a different excuse for the price increases on every one.
Check the prices of crude. I don't see it coming down. Americans currently use 25% of the world's crude oil. The European and Japanese economies, as well as our own, are improving and the demand for petroleum products will rise with them.
But the big spoiler in the global demand for oil is China. Their economy is growing like gangbusters and they are spawning a new class of consumers that can afford automobiles. They may change the global oil market forever.
Hope I'm wrong.

Super Diesel 03-07-2004, 02:21 AM It went up to .46 cent a gallon (veggi oil) in my garage here in Colorado. Any one starting to get interested in some Biodiesel making kits yet? I'm getting three different size kit together, starting with a 30 gallon and going up to 70 gallons. Kit prices will probably start around $500. Check out some F.A.Q. About Biodiesel WWW.GOBIODIESELPOWER.COM (http://www.GOBIODIESELPOWER.COM). I'll be at Bandemere Raceway on July 25 for Truck Fest putting down some serious HP on 100% veggi oil. I'll be in the area with Clint Cannon of A.T.S. Go Super Diesels.
CrincoMax 03-07-2004, 05:41 AM So then, I have read the info and I wonder why I have read that GM does not want us to put Biodiesel in our trucks? YOU are selling these kits? or thats what you bought yours for? How hard is it to obtain the Vegi oil used to make Biodiesel? Can you please give us more info about this process(making Biodiesel in OUR garages) so we can make more informed/better decissions please. Thanks
Super Diesel 03-08-2004, 03:03 AM Of course G.M. dosn't want you putting Biodiesel in your truck because there hans are deep in the petrolium Co. pockets too. If all of us were using a fuel that made our trucks last three or four times as long, they wouldn't sell as many trucks. I'm still in the process of getting some deals put together with some manufactures to make it as cheap as possible for these kits. We still need to support this great nation we live in, but we can cut our cost of it alittle. You can get used veggi oil from behind almost any restrant. Wendys has some of the best filtered stuff. It only takes ubout 8 hours to make a 30, 50, or 70 gal batch for the stuff. You only need to tend it for the first 30 min. or so. I'm working on getting every thing you need to make it,complete kits, and separate parts. Be patient, good things come to those who wait. Theres lots of good reading on biodiesel if your interested. We need this now more than ever. Diesels were originaly designed to run on all sorts of veggi oils in the first place. Two words, REPRESSED TECHNOLOGY! Algae (almost 50% veggi oil) is our number one supplier of Veggi oil. Imagine what we could do with Algae ponds out in the desert.
