Does that include your cellular phone service also? Let us know service quality.

I use T-mobile @ $33.87 a month unlimited. Works good around major cities and fair everywhere else. There are places it will not work at all. I have not had anyone elses service to compare too.

I don't think so. The connection is with a network card that slides into the computer. Check with verizon to see if cell service and wireless internet combine.

My work travels and we live fulltime in our 36' Carriage 5'er. If my job keeps me in one place for any length of time and broadband is available, we get either cable or DSL. I have a WiFi system in our 5th wheel with an external antenna on the roof. I have picked up high speed wireless networks everywhere we have been, some of those have been 1.5 miles away! Some were free and some we paid for. IMO, WiFi is the best bang for the buck and is usually true broadband speeds. Way faster than any cellular internet option. Check out the "Technology" forum at http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/listings/forum/38.cfm You'll find a wealth of information for RV'ers there. You'll have to wade thru the crap to find what you need but its a good resource.

Good Luck.

It's not as convenient, but once you have wireless internet you can always use one of the free internet phone services like Skype.

Flying J's, Petros, and TAs all have WiFi service.

I have the Cingular card and it works fair. The speed of the card bis between dial-up and DSL.

We use TMobile through our cell phone as well for $20 a month. Not the best coverage, but we have service more than not. JJ :)

Rick, Please give us (me) more details on T-Mobile... The reason I ask is T-mobie as put antennas on a local farmer's silo. I am stuck with dial-up only, (no DSL or cable), and I don't want to pay $70.+ a month for satellite modem. With the tower so close, I here you can get speeds close to DSL. It would be sweet to kill two birds with one stone. A card for my home computer and a "on the road" solution for my laptop!

On another note... I have a WiFi card and have done the Flying-J thing... Macdonold's fast food places have the same thing. Only thing that sucks is each separate franchise has their own "network" meaning you pay (at least I did) via credit card and you are stuck with their service. So make sure the service you purchase has plenty of "access" along the route you plan to take. Flying-Js are great, but I found more access with the Macdonold's WiFi. Don't care for their food, but they are everywhere.

In a major town area this is definately better then dial up. If you have a tower close it should satify 95% of the internet crowd. They also have a new GC89 card out that is susposed to be 4x faster. TX has one. I will see if I can get him over here. I am pretty happy with this service. Also some of the rest area's are installing wifi. A good trick is to pull into a motel parking lot that advertises wifi. Not sure if it's legal, but it usually works.

Rick- FYI I own 3 LB7's, 1 LLY and 1 LBZ. Now back on topic, I had Cingular- worked most places but was not cheap. I now take my Direcway High speed satalite on the road, takes about 1 hour to setup and I'm good to go. I also have a wifi card for the RV parks that don't charge a arm and leg. I can still use my cell in a pinch but its about as fast as dial up. AS one post said, check out RV.NET.

Thankful
