I have a truck I'm working on and it appears as if the fuel shut off synoid is leaking, it has an allen key hole in the top, is that how I remove it? I tried to tighten it but the top(allen key) part seems to want to seperate from the bottom, Also does this unit often leak? I have a spare IP but don't really want to take it appart, and my spare has a nut on top, much the same as the one in FAQ under pictures.
Thanks

I believe there is a rubber "O" ring sealing the shut off. Easy fix.

The solenoids with the allen head are pita to get out sometimes. The allen head solenoid is also the old style which is very prone to leaking.

Thanks DP.
Got any tricks? I cant budge it! I'm scared I'm going to bust it or strip the allen key. Can I visegrip the body and use the allen key at the same time? On the leak it appears to be leaking thru the shut off valve.

It's shot. Pounded it, beat it, vise grips, you'll get it.

I managed to replace the fuel shut off...it needed to be presuaded to come out of the hole, but it came out:) . While I was in there I removed the PMD so that He would have a spare one, the transistor nuts were loose as so I suspect it will be fine as well. I had already extended the wiring harness, and installed my spare PMD in front of the rad, as he was experiencing intermetant(sp?) stalling issues, which maybe the leaky fuel shut off could have been helping to cause.
Now it's time to pull the intake off my truck to get my old PMD out so I can have a spare to throw in the glove box.
I also installed the high idle mod (as per Kenneddy website) on his truck I used a 2 posn switch so that he has a choice between the 1000ish and the 1300ish setting. Now I'm going to install it on mine as well

:grd:

thanks again for the help DP & Ted

Hey all - new to the site.. Just bought my 6.5 a month ago. Done all the typical repairs (brakes, etc.). Now she's started leaking fuel from the engine. Drips from the bell housing and starter when running, and drops a 1/2 liter or so when the engine is shut off. I just replaced the fuel filter and didn't notice any leaks. Where should I look next?

Explains the drip vs. the dumping of fuel when running vs. shut-down (respectively). Do I trace the return hose from the filter or intake manifold?
Thanks BC!!
