Guy's

I just picked up my 2004 GMC Sierra SLT 4x4 CrewCab truck yesterday and WOW loved it. Im here in the Dallas, Texas area and had to fly to ALBQ, New Mexico to find the exact truck I wanted. So 900 miles Later I'm back in Dallas and wow what a smooth ride.

I'm curious how to tell if I have the newer LLY engine or not.. I figured this was the place to ask.. THX

Welcome TB, the quickest way to tell is to look under the hood. If your injection lines go to a grommeted connection in the center of your valve covers, you have the orignal LB7 engine. If your injectors and lines are exposed at the bottom of the valve covers, (between the head and the exhaust manifolds) you have the new LLY engine.

If the eighth # of VIN is 1 = LB7 if 2 = LLY..

Either way, you will love your truck http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif .

MIke,

I just looked and it looks like it is the new LLY :) the 8th # is a 2 :)

I have been looking at this site for sometime, as this is my 1st Diesel. I just sold my 2001 Ford F 150 Supercrew King Ranch 4x4 as I was getting maybe 10-12mpg. So I figured with all the rebates going on and me being a GM Employee (GMS) it was time to jump on the Truck I wanted...Edited by: Taco Bender

A GM Employee driving a F---! Congratulations on the new truck. Personally I don't see how people cannot support the company that pays the bills and puts food on the table. Plus your discount is good. Not as good as it used to be, but still good. Non GM people would love to buy at GMS prices.

Well when you can get a steal like I did for a 2001 Ford F 150 King Ranch 4x4 Crew-Cab for $21,000 in 2002 it's hard to pass it up.. Just sold my King Ranch for $2500 more then I paid for it back then so can't complain..

Yepp GMS isnt bad, $50K sticker Price, GMS was $40 on the nose with another $3500 in Rebates.. SO no complaints..

Larsonem-
I'm a GM employee that gets GMS pricing but I also get Fords X plan pricing because we make parts for them too. We make quite a few parts for Toyota as well but I wouldn't be caught dead in one of those.
As a third generation GM employee I kind of have a certain brand loyalty running through my blood. Mix that with self-respect and there's nothing left for me to buy than a GM.Edited by: maynard9089

Larsonem,

I couldn't agree more. That's why I buy my beer, soda, etc in cans. I know the big soda bottles are sometimes more convenient and some good brands of beer are not available in cans, but the company I work for makes the sheet for 1/3 of all beverage cans produced. I actually rarely drink soda, but I sure do wish Michelob would put Amber Bock in cans.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif
