I know that this has been covered in some detail, but who currently has the best price on injectors? I would really like to replace them... without spending more than I need to.

Thanks Again,
Sean

How about these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Delphi-Injectors-Dipaco-install-Kit-1992-2000-GM-6-5_W0QQitemZ8021491270QQcategoryZ33554QQrdZ1QQcmdZV iewItem

or these that I got but just haven't put in. When this guy sold me mine he said they were Bosch, but I got Delphi. He said I could send them back but at $240 with free shipping I figured they were still a good deal.

How do you know when you need new injectors?

I'm pretty sure mine are original with 145k on the clock. I heard they only last around 100k-120k. But my truck runs good, so I'm thinking of just leaving them until I have problems with them. But I don't know what the symptoms of bad injectors are.

TT from my experience I'd go reflash before injectors, more bang for buck improvement (I did inj before reflash and inj only wasn't a real seat-o-pant notice), unless you actually need a new set then it's a matter of choice. But stock injectors will deliver all fuel you can use with your current set up.

As to when to replace em, no hard and fast rule, may be better if you suspect them, to have cleaned and tested to determine if they NEED to be replaced, that runs about $8/injector last time I had some injectors for clean/tested, Diesel Pro may be able to correct that estimate, to current $$$ it's been a couple of years since I had some checked.

NAPA has been selling "rebuilt" injectors that are new Delphi IF they have green caps on them. What's their cost?

Check injector 8 bucks. Need to change out when mileage drops, excess black smoke, or high mileage (anything over 150K)

Green Caps are Delphi. No new Bosch. Lots of rebuilt Bosch.

I have almost 180,00 on the odometer now. I have a real noticeable "knock" at idle that goes away as soon as throttle is touched. I believe I have an injector hanging open and the knock is coming from pre-ignition. Again the knock is not present at any time other than idle. Also my mileage is about 16 mpg... with 3.43's. That seem excessivley low.

On my old 89 Ford 7.3 I could tell by the temp difference on each exhaust, as in by each cylinder

Can a bad injector or two raise exhaust temps?

So how does one purchase the green cap rebuilt injectors? Do you just walkin and say I want to go through your injectors to see if you have a set with green caps?
Also you have written check injector - 8 bucks. What does that refer to?
I tried to PM you but the message got gone before I finished it.
Thanks

There are diesel shops that can perform tests on injectors to see if they are OK or not, that cost $8 per injector.
