Thank you for contacting the Chevrolet Customer Assistance Center. We appreciate you taking the time to write us in regards to your 2003 Chevrolet Silverado.

I have researched your request about the fuel injectors in your Silverado and am unable to locate any known concerns with the injectors that are covered by a special policy or recall. We are unable to determine if a particular concern with your vehicle is a common one.

The warranty for your 2003 Chevrolet Silverado is for 36 months or 36,000 miles whichever comes first for manufacturer defects in materials or workmanship. Coverage begins on the original delivery date. Other components carry specific warranties based on state and federal law. Please refer to your Warranty Booklet or contact your Chevrolet Dealer for details. After the 3 years or 36,000 miles, you have additional coverage on your diesel engine for 5 years or 100,000 miles with a $100.00 deductible. If you have concerns with your vehicle outside of your vehicle warranty, we encourage you to contact customer assistance at that time and we can see what assistance we can offer here at customer assistance.

I have created a file to document your inquiry; your service request number is xxxxxxxxx. Please refer to this number when contacting us here at the customer assistance center.

If you should need to contact us in the future, simply reply to this message or call our Chevrolet Customer Assistance Center at 1-800-222-1020. Customer Relationship Managers are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., Eastern Time.

Again, thank you for contacting Chevrolet.

Sincerely,

Customer Relationship Manager

Comments : I currently own a 2003 2500HD. I have been informed that there is a serious problem concerning the injectors in the Duramax Diesel. Please tell me what the current life time warranttee is on these injectors? How many injector problems have occurred on the Duramax diesel since it's introduction? What should I expect for error free miles of usage of my diesel engine? What happens if my injectors fail beyond 100,000 miles or after 5 years? I would appreciate your response concerning this injector issue on the Duramax please.

That is typical and a good example of what a waste of time the customer assistance center can be. This in light of the new TSB on injectors cracks me up.

You guys feel free to do what you want, but sometimes it is best to WAIT until things like this are official.

I'm sorry that I even eluded to the possibility of such a possibility.

FWIW, I also deliberatley did NOT post the GM bulletin due to the copyright listed in the document...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Thumbs Down.gif

as a tech we really dont see that many injector failures.
more injectors are replaced due to miss diag or simply its easer to replaced all 8 to satify the owner and not fix just one to have another fail 12 months down the road.
gm stance on injectors is as you stated....of the millions of d/max out there x8 injectors =8 million injectors. 10k failures is not high to gm when compared to sales...... if all trucks had the issue more would be done....remember gm thinks your only good for 3/36 and you will get a new vechicle...no thats not you the d/max owner yet 99% of the public is never happy so this is why you see peope jump from one brand to another.... a most d/max owners own as to regular owners who lease....
remember in gm eyes your 3/36.....and as my pa said back in the day they sold you to be a lifer.......
