Have a question for some of you that live up north. I need to replace the tires on my 91 full size Blazer. I have a place in Colo. that I leave it. It does not get driven very much as we only get up there 3 or 4 times a year. What would be a good all around tire that would have good traction in snow and not cost a fortune? I am not as concerned with wear as I am traction because they will probably dry rot before they wear out. I will be going back with original 31x10.50x15 size. TIA.

I had great luck with my Yokohama Geolanders this winter in the snow/ice/mud. They are quiet, look good, wear good, great traction and they run me about $130 ea out the door. Just a suggestion!
I also had great luck with the Cooper Dicover AT's on my old truck!

The BFG A/T is great if the snow is a bit on the damp side and the tire is aired down. They are absolutely horrible on ice, BTDT, and hydroplane quite easily. I ran them for years. Finally got tired of the unpredictability on ice so I switched to the Goodyear AT/S. Much better tire in all conditions. More $$$. but worth it.

I'd go for an open tire like a mud style for plenty of grip off road, get them studded or cable chains for ice.
The Maxxis buckshots I have were $95/ea w/ studs and 15" would be cheaper.

The best snow tire I have ran is the BFG A/T.

I run tires that the local coop sell that are just like the Big O XT. Unfortunately at Big O they are expensive... As much as a bfg. I get this other brand that looks the same for about 130 for a 265, 125 for a 245. They have excellent traction in mud and snow, nearly as good as a mud tire but also good on the ice and packed snow. They are a really good all around tire, about the most aggressive all terrain I have seen. I actually have a set of these in 31x10.5x15 that we aren't using...
Another nice thing about them is when I see a nail, I just go get it fixed when I have time, they never go flat even with multiple nails. At the most I have had a slight slow leak over a couple weeks...
Check out the Big O XT to see the tread I am talking about.

I am going to throw another shout out for the Maxxis tires.
I run the 753 bravo's they are not quite as open as a buckshot. I also got 37k on my last set 95% all highway/pavement miles.
