: exhaust question
Boostmonkey 12-14-2005, 12:56 PM I've got an 06 GMC CC/SB with the LBZ in it, I found an exhaust system but it eliminates the cat, will this hurt performance or effect emmision testing. its a turbo back stainless system 4" with dual 4" tail, I like the look of the duals, i am planning other mods in the future, i just want it to breathe better until then, thanks

RichLockyer 12-18-2005, 08:42 PM If your state has smog testing, the missing cat will likely be a problem.
Even if you don't get a light, you MAY set codes, which will also be a problem.
Try it, if you get no lights, give it a couple of weeks, then scan for codes. If no codes are present, then have a welder buddy make a cat lookalike and weld it up around the front pipe. If the tester sees a can there, they are unlikely to fail you.
Mark Craig 12-20-2005, 12:54 PM Boostmonkey,
The MBRP systems are set up to allow you to bolt the factory cat in or out as you need to. The front pipe replaces the cat and you can remove it for racing and off road use that way. So far approx 5% opf the trucks we have sold a system to have gotten a code or CEL, time will tell what the percentage will be as time goes by. Call us if you have any questions we'll be glad to help you.

Boostmonkey 12-21-2005, 08:49 AM What codes would it set? Emission testing isn't that importain I haven't used state inspection in years, I pay for it, it's a lot easier and no headaches. I have an OTC Genisys Scanner so reading and clearing code would not be a problem I just don't want to do everyday, the only other thing I thought of was to straght pipe the cat and see what happens. I have heard of finger sticks I can't seem to find any info on the LBZ, is this something to fool the computer. I had to make a box similar to that for my 99 burb to limit grams/sec on the MAF and limit the MAP to only see 1 lbs boost and fire the aux. injectors, thanks

RichLockyer 12-21-2005, 12:09 PM It sets an EGR code. Insufficient backpressure to create enough flow or something like that.

Rob rob, if you contact john at diesel performance shops ,they will be able to help you on the finger sticks.
dmax4u2nv 12-22-2005, 01:40 AM where are there emissions tests for diesels?
RichLockyer 12-22-2005, 03:11 AM Quite a few have it.... I am very surprised that CA doesn't, but it is coming, probably in '07.
I'm pretty sure that AZ and NV already test.
