My friend has a 2001 Duramax that has a starting problem.
When you shut the truck off after driving for awhile it won't start immediately. After 10 minutes and 1 second the truck starts with no problem. There are no codes and the dealer can't find the problem and now they won't try to repair it under warranty.
To me it seems to act like a timer but I don't really know what the problem is.
Can anyone help or has someone else had this same problem?
Thanks,
Wayne

PowerKing,
The truck does not cool off. Just shutting it down to go into the store and returning to the truck is long enough.

need to watch fuel pressure when it dont start.... possibly an issue there.

Fuel filter age? Thats basic and first thing to check....

Just a follow up to my orginal post.
There is no fuel when the vehicle won't start. up. As long as you keep turning the key the truck won't start but if you leave it for 10 minutes it starts as though there wasn't a problem. It acts as if there was a timer on the alarm system and maybe a sensor is the problem. Someone out there may have had the same problem with a fix.
Thanks,
Wayne

A friend had the same problem when his truck got around 100000 miles the dealer replaced three sensor at $700. and it still wouldn't start after it was shut down with out waitting. three dealers three failures. He traded the truck, his fathers truck did the same thing when it got to 100,000 miles and he to went the dealer route and they replaced the three sensors and the same results as his son, finally he found a mechanic in a small shop in Canada that listened to the problem and fixed it. There is a sensor in the valley that used to be on the fender well on older models. it helps control the glow plugs he moved it back to the fender well and the engine starts every time now. I am not sure which sensor it is as Denny wasn't sure when he related the story to me. But worth checking out with a tech. thats been around a while.
