I think you would need the com. software for that.

It has yet to be confirmed to cure the problem.
We do have a speedlimter value plus an RPM limiter value that can be altered on the 01, Beta testers are trying to round up an early 01 to test it on, of course it works fine on 02+

Ross

I sent my stock 2002 tune to a member with a 2001 and he is going to reflash the PCM/OS to see if it will work on his 2001.

If it does I will post it here.

I looked at his stock 2001 tune and the speed section is different, it needs another H**** table and it is not found in the 2001 tables.

Maybe add the table and it will work???

Let's be honest. How often do you say to your self, dang if only I didn't have that pesky speed limiter? The only time it matters for me is when I'm at the track. And all I have to do is flip a little switch that turns off my speedo. Done no limiter!

If some one finds a way to work around the limiter that's great but I've got bigger things to worry about.

Great to hear from those in the early R&D of EFILive custom tunes for the DMax. I know we will see some big numbers from those of you who are working on this.

Thats what I mean, is the EFI stuff not enough to beat Extreme tunes?

It is 100% completely capable. The part that is lacking is the person behind the software to put it all together. Steve is one hell of a tuner and it's going to take some time for people to learn what he already knows. There is no reason we can't meet the power of the Extreme. The software is definitely not the limiting factor.

 The Janitor had to do some cleanup in this thread. :D This forum is NOT for discussion of anything other than EFILive. I'm sorry to those of you that had posts containing valid and related information deleted but it was easier to delete all posts containing anything unrelated rather than editing each one individually. Most of them had quotes to posts that needed deleted.

Note to vendors: Please make sure you have read the rules of the forum before you post. You are NOT allowed to post in a thread started by or discussing another vendors product for the sole purpose of soliciting sales. At the staffs discretion any and all posts in violation of this rule will be removed and further action may be taken.

So on to Peanut's question.

It is being worked on with EFI Live, BUT the simplest solution at this point is to use a 2002 PCM and a 2002 VIN and away you go...

I'm testing with two trucks right now and hope to have the results back and post tomorrow. Preliminary stuff looks good.

We're just trying to keep the peace. By the same token i wouldn't expect EFIlive to post in the other forum as well. It should help prevent a lot counter-productive threads.

That sounds fine.
What 'I' and I think none of the users here ever want to see is where one vendor posts something untrue or misleading in their own thread and competing vendors cannot respond because they are banned, as long as we never reach that point we should all get along.

So, can bump up the RPM's or not?

So, can bump up the RPM's or not?

RPMs are not a problem. Speed is.

We started at 95 mph and have moved it 100mph. In trying to go higher we have limped the stock trans twice with two seperate tunes. 5th gear doesn't wan to hold. :(

(Insert the limping song here)

As of a few minutes ago I tamed the power down a little more.
(Tune #3)

I'm trying to run the balance between having enough power to go 120 mph but not limp the stock trans.

This truck is in another state from me and I'm very grateful for the owners participation.

The local 2001 truck and I will be getting together tomorrow night to repeat the same tests, as his schedule would not allow us to do that today. Unfortunately another stock trans. :(

Anybody else in Socal with a 2001 and built trans want to help test?

PM me and we'll get together.

I'm doing my best to get you guys the answers your looking for.

I'm more into pulling than racing. 3250rpm just isn't enough. So on the '01 can I get to the 4000 to 4400rpm range without changing ECM?

Went to 4500ish on a free rev.

be careful how much RPM you ask for. i've heard some sound weird up there

Trippin, you should have put something in my ecm and I would have tested it on my 01. Mine will rev to 4500rpm and I have seen 117mph on edge records on my truck. All it took was a 2002 ecm. You don't need to repogram the ecm. You do need a tuner that eliminates the speed limiter or efi to tune the ecm.

The point of the exercise is to test EFILive's ability to remove the speed limiter from a 2001 ECM, then there would be no reason to go to a 2002 ECM in the 2001 trucks.

One solution (not ideal) would be to change the speed signal to think you are running really small tires. That should allow you to get a higher speed limiter but not remove it. It also would throw your speedo off so you'd need a GPS or something. I know it works with my 01 - as I have had that truck clocked using a GPS at over 100mph running 285s with the ECM thinking I am running stock 245s so if you program it to think you have even smaller tires than you actually do - you should be able to raise the limiter.
