I am trying to convence my girlfriend to keep her truck. She uses it everyday at the ranch but she wants to get rid of it becuase it get "poor" gas mileage. Its either the truck or a murcury cougar.
I am trying to change her mind and she says if I can magically get 3-4mpg increase then she will keep it.
I have already had her get larger tires (285's i believe I will look again).
My next step is a chip.

Now not being familiar with fords, I need a little help here.
She doesnt need to be hot rodding around so anything around 60hp would be great. What would be a great chip to increase drivability as well as gas milage. Shift on the fly power is not needed. I just want to get her a chip that I can program and forget.

Its a 2002 Ford powerstroke 6.0L, single cab long bed, with the 5 speed manual w/ 80,000 miles, 4x4

Thanks guys. Anything else would be great.

Lol well the plan is in a few months I am going to buy her a new duramax or give her my current one. But for now I would like her to keep it. I would rather her drive the truck instead of a little car.

If its a 2002 its got to be a 7.3 The 6-uh oh's did'nt come out till 2003. Any tuner/chip will help but you'd be hard pressed to get 3-4. 1-2 mpg is a normal gain. Intake and exhaust will help some too. Tony Wildman is a custom programmer and has some very good economy programs that may get you close. Let me know and I can PM his # to ya.

Since when does Ford offer a five speed manual tranny in it's diesel pick ups? I think you have to go back to 1997 for that option. 99's and up with the diesel option got the six speed manual.
