I can get it loose but how do you reach the plugs on the back? It won't come free unless the wires are detached.
This is a 2004 Silverado with the Bose system: single CD player with steering wheel Controls.
Thanks for the help.

Keep working at it. You should be able to pull enough slack to get your hand in from the top with the HU face tilted down. Once you depress the latch, the connector will come free.

The couple I have done you just have to pull it until the wires slide farther out. They are wrapped in foam and crammed back in between the heater duct and some other plastic. Takes a bit to pull them far enough out to be able to reach in there and unhook them. I suppose at the factory they must have done it with the top of the dash off...

You can remove the AC controls first to get a bit more room. They also don't get all scratched up that way.

mine just pulled right out. You did unscrew it didn't you? But yeah what they said, just wiggle it, it ought to come out.

Yeah, I scratched the top edge of the AC control panel pretty good but it's covered by the dash panel anyway.
I was able to pull and get plenty of work room. The cable was just stuffed pretty tight back there or something. That big plug just pulls out of the back of the HU and doesn't have any release tabs or anything. Could've saved some time and aggravation if I'd known that. :) Thanks again.
