There is an article in todays Washington Post (Business section) on GM being forced into a recall for 1999-2003 truck tailgate straps. The article states around 70,000 failures resulting in over 113 injuries. I have personally not read the article. A friend of mine who has had a tailgate strap fail called and gave me the details. Since his failed I have been very careful when loading heavy stuff on my tailgate. Just thought you might want to warn friends and family not to trust the straps with heavy loads. His broke with less than 300lbs on it.
