Installed a pre OEM Racor w/heater and WIF sensor yesterday, all seems fine with the install, and the truck runs well, however, my auto-on headlight feature no longer works, in the daytime. Headlights and all lights work, just the auto feature does not. If I cover the sensor, works perfectly.

Any suggestions on what I screwed up?

Had both batteries disconnected during install.

thanks.Edited by: jeephauler

I'm confused. The headlights don't come on during the day but do at night, simulated by covering the sensor. That's how mine work. I don't understand what the problem is.

My truck has a daytime running light feature, which defaults to on position, in daytime. You can overide it and turn it off if you wish. It is these daytime lights which will not come on, yet all lights will work if manually turned on, or if sensor is covered to simulate night. Sorry for any confusion from my poor explanation.

Remember they only come on when you take the truck out of park. You need someone to look for you or park in front of a window.

I was gonna say when you release the emergency brake, but I think that is for the headlights not the DRLs.

Hoot was right, I feel stoopud!!

My green indicator for DRLs is so faint at times, I thought it was out completely, and upon inspection, well, forgot it had to be out of park.

Doh!

Better here than having a Ford or Dodge guy point it out... http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif

You are the only person I have seen who actually wanted them on!

There is a pushbutton in the light switch panel that is labeled dome override. If you push it 4 times it turns off the daytime running light feature. Actually just press it till you hear a tone signaling the on or off of the lights.

On the '03's you donot need to do that push 4 times stuff, just turn the headlight switch counter clockwise and it overides the DRL and auto headlights, turn it clockwise and they are back to normal, no tone anymore either
