I just got through changing my 6.2 motor with a mechanical 6.5, I had it running for a little while, until it wouldn't start anymore, motor turns over quickly for about 3 or 4 turns, then "chuggs" over like dead batteries, both are good, is it the starter? it only has two wires going to it, power and a smaller one...... thats all the last one had. and suggestions???

Sounds like the same problem I posted. My truck started then the started doing what yours is doing and now nada. I took the starter out and had it checked it's good. The little wire is the "trip" wire to make the starter turn. I have no volts to it so it might be the starter relay which I need to check but have no clue where it is.


Did you load test the batteries by themselvs?


Check to see that you have 24V at the starter and on that trip wire when you turn the key to start. If not then you might be in the same boat I'm in.

OK, I think ive got it solved, I rechecked the connection to the starter and what do yu know...... corroded pretty bad. so the reason it was working at first it wasn't getting a good connection. it was turing over the engine a couple of times until after it heated up, then the connection would be lost... and the bolts on the starter were loose.....i hope someone can use this info...
