Hi All,

Wondering if my 98 6.5T diesel 4x4 K2500 Suburban with 3.73 limited slip(posi) can tow a 34' 3" TT that has GVWR of 8800 lbs.

Thanks for the help.Edited by: Diesel Grinch

Without looking to verify GVWR's on the 98, I would say no problem, but you want to check with the guys that had them.

Technically, I think you got plenty of truck.

Should do it OK- you may wish for a little more power at times. I pulled a 32ft 5vr with the living room over the hitch with my 94 6.5 e/w 3.73 that weighed all of that and more and it held it's own most of the time. Good luck!

Hi;

Diesel Grinch;

I think you do have enough truck, you might consider a couple of upgrades.

1. Good exhaust, the factory exhaust & down pipe is very restrictive, you will pickup HP & MPG at a very reasonalbe cost.

2. Gage it. EGT & Boost.

3. Might consider computer reflash (after gages) more air (boost) and fuel for more HP. (about $5-$600)

If you only do the exhaust your will get a decent payback with todays fuel prices!Edited by: 16gaSxS

The exhaust is a must for towing! GM pressed these restrictions in at the factory( thanks!). The exhaust is the same size they use for their gasoline engines, even though a diesel nee

ds ten times the airflow.

This straight pipe is 3" and has transformed my 6.5L from a turbo diesel to a turbo driven diesel. I shudder to think what the 4" system would be like, but you can get just a 4" downpipe for $180.

The 3" pipe with no catalytic flange was $155 and the extension joint another $25.

get a boost controler as well. it turns your turbo up to about 15psi or so maximum with out the chip upgrade. You can put it together for under $10 and assemble it in 30 minutes. This means more power for hills. The chip upgrade will also help with transmission shift points.
