well i currently have a 2500hd duramax quad cab short bed 4x4. ive installed these performance upgrades. quadzilla programer stacked with an edge power chip, electric wastegate control and a methanol kit. i ordered a trans upgrade, (ats) friday. im looking for a lift pump. my question is, my truck didnt have a cat and i ditched my muffler so its a straight pipe, i was looking for the whistle/jet sound but instead i got more or a "flowmasterish/bigblock sound" what do i need to do to accomplish this sound? sorry if this question has been answered already but im really curious. thanks in advance.

A bigger hairdryer would do it.

AFE stage 2 will give you more turbo whistle.

If you have a wastegate, it's an LB7.

Look at the 8th digit of your VIN. If its a "1", its an LB7. If its a "2", its an LLY. If you're going to put an intake on, I'd recommend AFE products over K&N, or airraid.

answer: an LLY):h

A 'cold air intake' such as an AFE will gain you a little bit of whistle, but only on accelleration and spool up. Also, removing the big black plastic "box" on top of the engine (that says "6.6 Turbo Diesel") will help slightly. If the truck doesnt have a cat, its probably an LB7. You would definetly know (by sound) if you had a catless LLY. If you stand behind my truck (i took the cat off) when its idleing and dont pay attention to the low rumble up front from the engine, all you hear at the back out of the exhaust is WHOOOOOSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH like a compressed air blow gun with a little whistle in the background. The LB7's definetly have a different sound. Just like you described it. More of a low rumbling.

Check your vin numbers 8th digit. Lb7 is a 1 lly is a 2

also lb7 has more of a rattle sound and an lly has more whistle.

well i checked my vin, and its a "1" so i have an LB7. thanks for the help, so an intake will solve my whistling addiction. how can i get the turbo to spool up faster? the wastegate control doesnt help, i think it was a waste of money. thanks for all the replys. i appreciate it!!!!

That and a free flowing exhaust, just don't be looking for addition HP but it will feel like it seat of the pants because of quicker spool up :exactly:
