: Just got my LBZ today!!! 1st Imprssion
MrMinimax 12-09-2005, 11:15 PM I picked up my lbz at 9 am this morning and put a 160 miles on it today. MPG is at 16.4 as of know, empty. I traded a 01 dodge 2500 cummins in on it with 240,000 miles. I will update as the week goes on as to my first impresions. But sofar I love it!
66supersport 12-09-2005, 11:21 PM Congrats!!! :ro) I'm waiting for '07 or '08 for a new dmax.
redeagle313 12-10-2005, 01:11 AM Congratulations on your pretty new truck! I sure you will enjoy it!
Carbon04 12-10-2005, 09:18 AM What trim level do you have to get on the Chevy's to get the painted fender flairs? I didn't see it as an option on the GM build site.

Those sure look like black (unpainted) flairs.
Mackin 12-10-2005, 10:30 AM My buddy who ownes a LLY said he took a LBZ out and was really impressed with the power it had.
Hmmmm ;)

if i remember right it depends on the color. mine is a white ls with painted flares. i think all lt's have painted flares?
Rideit 12-10-2005, 11:10 AM all lt's are painted except black. Black comes with flat plastic.

We were too until I read last summer about all the mess that's coming in 2007 with the new diesel engine emission and fuel requirements. You couldn't give me an 07+ diesel engine truck with all that's going to take place. We're 2 years ahead of our planned schedule to replace our old faithful Ford but decided to avoid the EPA mess in 2007 and we ordered early. Can't wait to get our new GMC in late Feb.
Truck on!!!
ChevyDealer 12-10-2005, 11:26 AM On a 2006 2500HD Crew Cab with Graystone Metallic (16U), Dark Blue Metallic (25U), Black (41U), Blue Granite Metallic (46U), Sport Red Metallic (63U), or Victory Red (74U) you will get the Black Flares. Summit White (50U) and Silver Birch Metallic (59U) come with Painted Flares.

Graystone Metallic also comes with the painted flares. At least mine did.....
MrMinimax 12-10-2005, 04:31 PM The dealer offers a "Paint out" option to paint the flares, mirrors, body molding, door handles and bumper plastic body color for about $1,500.00. I went to the dealer breakfast this morning, which is a requirement to get the lifetime free oil change, and a tech said that the Allison is the holdback to more power. In less than a year the Duramax will be upped again to more HP. Love the power this thing has, reminds me of the hot rod days when a slight bump on the trottle will send you sideways!

Thats what inspired the question, I see yours has painted flairs and the pic in the first post doesn't. I have had three 99+ GMC's and all had painted flairs. Just wonder if it had to do with trim level or not on the Chevy's.

That was more due to crappy tires, the performance cars today make the "Hot Rod" Era muscle cars seem like Nissan Sentras. :offtopic: ;)
MrMinimax 12-12-2005, 06:38 PM Ive added my Pro tech cab guard and a bug sheild. Will go in for the paint out next week. With the power this thing has it shouldnt take long to wear out the rubber so I can get tires, wheels and a RCD lift. I will add pics as the mods are added.

Trim level does drive the painted flares on the colors that they are available. If you order the base level 4wd "work truck", I believe you will get the black flares on any color.
MrMinimax 12-12-2005, 10:01 PM Mine is a LT 3 trim level and I am not aware of a higher level then that. Aparently the victory red is one of the few colors where the trim pieces cant be ordered body color
Cavediver 12-13-2005, 04:28 PM Graystone Metallic also comes with the painted flares. At least mine did.....
Ditto, I have painted flares on my 1LT CC/LB in Graystone Metallic. Is it possible that the build plant may play a role in the availability of the painted flares (besides the victory red that yours is painted)?
NICE truck btw
MrMinimax 12-26-2005, 08:42 PM Just got the truck back after getting the door handles, mirrors, flares and bowtie painted body color. I also removed the side bumpers, I will be lifting it soon so they will be of little use. I have 1700 miles on it now and still love it.

You can also get dark green trucks with painted flares. Most are painted, some are not.
