My '05 LLY is smoking black on acceleration. Very poor power until turbo kicks in. At that point the smoke increases for a moment and then cools out.
The problem started when I got codes 404 401 299, took it to dealer, they fixed a wiring harness rubbing on power steering pully. I picked it up, the codes came right back. They told me to take to another dealer. That dealer found the EGR needed replacement, fine tehy do that. Picked up truck at night, right away the smoke began, poor power bad milage, 13 mpg. Took to another dealer, they say the fi;lters fuel and air boogered up, OK they change it. I picked it up at night now smoke is worse, less power and would you believe 18 MPG

I have been having similar problems. Dealer could not find a problem. I have put about 3000 on since the dealer saw it and the smoke has cleared for the most part. Some smoke I understand but mine was fogging the other lanes.

:help: Yeah, people driving behind me vear away from smoke. They drive like I am throwing dead bodies out the back. My truck has 29k put about 400 since I picked it up, still choking and smoking,

back from dealer for the 4th time. stiil smokes, has a little better power, mech said the turbocharger learn proceedure not done. He did that and had me pick it up. will be working to sort this out, still not right, any comments? Please.

My 05 has the black smoke problem also, last time I took it for the smoke the reflashed the computer and it seems to be better most of the time but every so often it will fog lanes for miles.

Went back to the dealer last night they say its the transmission. Black fluid all burned up in the trans? They say on test drive it was slipping, I never had that problem? Will update resolution, when it occurs. I still think there are issues w/ engine.

Sounds like no boost... excess smoke and no power.

I would check all intake and intercooler plumbing for leaks.

mine does the same but the diffrence is the van atten box on kill, it looks like a mad octopuss! but i'm taking mine into the dealer to have a fuel rail replaced something about a bypass orfice that isn't doing it's job bleeding off the excess fuel pressure, i'll check back to see if it's improved..mike
