My friend has an '04 Dodge Cummins 4x4 with 17" wheels and big tires. Nice truck, but too high and wide (mirrors) to fit my garage. Yesterday he drove my Chev. with Edge on 3 and it put a big smile on his face....his reaction was "wow...." I was telling him there are lots of very potent Dodges running around out there. But his dealer frowns on engine mods and won't honor the factory warrantee, plus he's concerned about transmission life with a tuner. Being a Chev. guy I don't come to this forum, but have a question that's likely been answered here many times: How much power will the '04 Dodge automatic handle before trouble starts? And which tuners work best on the Cummins without negative side effects.

The TST Powermax CR webpage spells out the ability of the tranny pretty well. I have the Banks Six Gun and Speedloader on my truck right now, and I am planning on going to the TST (or Edge "Hot" Juice) when thw weather starts to warm up. I have not observed any tranny problems with the Banks, but the TST or Edge "Hot" have more power potential...and that is what I want. Edge Juice and Banks Six Gun are great for the factory warranty as they have the most features to monitor the trucks' operation - primarily the transmission and torque converter lock-up!! I would recommend these for that protection factor. Have him check out all the options and see what he likes best though. Bullydog, Quadzilla, and some of the other programmers are also said to work great, but I don't know anyone who has them so I cannot comment from experience.

The bully dog down loaders seem to really do well on the dodges and not hurt the tranny. Might check them out.It should dyno right around 400hp with the bullydog, and run around 14's in the 1/4 from what i have seen.

Thanks, I'll let him know. These trucks are fun to drive as is, but even more fun with a tune. He'll want something that's transmission safe and removable/non-detactable for dealer visits.

Also; if he didnt mind spending the money, a good valve body would really help hold the power a lot. As long as he doesent just abuse it i think it will be fine anyway, but a VB would give some extra insurance with the increased line pressure. I think most are around $400. I think Dave Goerend has one for around $250 though from what i have been told. www.gbtransmissions.com (http://www.gbtransmissions.com) is his website. He doesent really have a lot of info on the website, but if you call him up,a nd talk to him he will answer any question you want to ask;) Also; bully Dog has the free trial of their downloaders if there is a local bully dog dealer around you. It is programmed into the truck, and then it returns to normal after 10 starts or so, but would give him a taste of the power to see if he likes it, and it is free. Good luck
Eric
Here is a link to the bullydog page with the try before you buy info, and a list of installers for each state.
